Astor Room at Watermill - How many does it hold?

Astor Room at Watermill - How many does it hold?

I talked to Watermill today and they said it holds 196 - 14 tables of 14. If any of you have used that room - can you tell me how many people you had and how comfortable or tight it was? Trying to finalize our guest list. Thanks.

One of the Banquet Mangers said that you really shouldn't have over 200 people there. But with 14 tables of 14 = 196 and the bride & Groom it equals 198.

I just realized that you would actually have to fit 14 people at each table. That would mean if there are big people, things may get crowded.

As you can see, I am also having my reception in the Astor room. Looks like I have a huge problem. My guest list is at 230! I know that a large majority won't come, but how tight will the room be if there are 200 people there?? Looks like I'll be cutting down the list!

I'm hoping to be a Watermill girl by this weekend (if all goes well that is!) I don't have too much time to shop around!

However we are having a wedding @75-85 people and when I spoke to them (Tom I think?) he said I would need the smaller room, the Vanderbilt? I am taking a leap of faith, as I have never seen the place inside, but my fiance has and loves it there (he has great taste so I'm not worried..) Besides I've heard lots of good things about Watermill, overall.

I was told I CANNOT go over 75 in the small room! I guess worst case scenario they'll split the big room, that is, if it isn't booked.

Good luck with your big weddings, I'm sure it'll work out fine for you

felicia, that sounds like my room, are you sure it's not the bostonian? Or maybe they have more than 1 smaller room? we loved it, perfect for us. walks out onto where the watermill is, own cocktail room, fireplace, etc.

pretty just like the rest of the place!

the Vanderbilt is the larger room- that is whereI am having my reception- The Astor Room is whereI am having my cocktail hour. the Astor is the smaller room. I have over 200.

You are probably right about the room, Jen..
When I called I was more worried about my date being available than anything else, and once I heard it was I think I zoned out on all the other details (including the name of the room). I'll figure it all out by the time I get there , at least I hope so!

Crossing my fingers everything works out with them .. its my first choice so we'll see

I was told a 175 people, nicely
I had 104 people in that room with 11 tables,
I feel 12 tables would be perfect, 14 tables would be tight, JMO
