It was said to me at 29 and I found it weird. Now at 38, I'll take it. I say it's okay past 35.

Well, thatswhy I'm asking... because is that EVER a nice thing to say? Is it ever nice to say 'you look good for just having a baby' and stuff like that. I mean my mother alwyas says 'Do I look like I'm 60?' and i always say no, you look very good for your age.... but i guess it's not exactly a compliment.....

I see your point. 'You look good' is nicer than 'you look good for your age.'

Glad you didn't say, 'well at least I'm not 39.' I'll be there in April. I could be Mrs. Brag's mother but then I'd have to pay for enlargements.

Generally speaking I don't think it's the nicest thing to say... it's sort of like a 'back door compliment'. I think the intention is for it to be a compliment but nonetheless it's a bit rude if you think about it.

I would respond 'I didn't realize you were unskilled in social graces either. I guess we both learned something today'

Sometimes putting on weight makes you look a little younger.... You said you put on a few, that could do it...

depends on the person sometimes. this psycho i work with told a group of people that others tell her she looks 25. I am 25. She looks nearly 40 [and is 35]. Granted, that's a good 40...but none the less. I wanted to die from laughter when they told me she said that. I mean really, why LIE??? People tell me I look 18-22...sometimes it's annoying that people think I look younger...but I know when I'm 30 I'll revel in it.
