At what point does one visit a RE??

We've only been TTC for about 6 months but I'm 'old'!!!

Will a reproductive endocrinologist see me yet??

Thanks!

Re: At what point does one visit a RE??

Kathi,

I don't think it is premature to visit one now, I was in the same situation, and after tests, and they are extensive we found out that there was a small problem that hopefully was corrected.

If you need any information feel free to email me at [email protected]

Re: At what point does one visit a RE??

You can call and ask. I don't know how much time they want you to TTC before calling. It doesn't hurt to ask. I've read that a lot of people worry that they can't conceive when they are in their 30's and try for a few months. The article said that it could be because people in their 20's are more active and that could be why. Also it stated that not every woman ovulates at the same time in her cycle. You might be TTC at a different time than books say you should be. I hope this helps a little. There's a great book on this called 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility.' It tells you how to chart your cycle so you know when the time is right to TTC. Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!!!

Re: At what point does one visit a RE??

I'm not sure, but I do have to advocate the ClearPlan Easy Ovulation Monitor - expensive but definitely worth it (she says as she enters her 8th week of pregnancy )! It's this little computer that helps chart your most fertile times. My ob/gyn had recommended it to me when we were ttc (we tried for 8 months). He said it is helpful because many times you think you are ovulating but aren't and this way you know for sure so you can definitely 'try harder' at the right times! He advocated this over just the stick tests, etc. I have to say, it did motivate us and in the end -- something worked!

Re: At what point does one visit a RE??

Thanks, ladies! I made an appointment for next week! Michelle, thank you for the referral!! You really are so sweet!!

Lee, I'm using the Clear Plan Fertility Monitor...handy little thing, except it's not telling me what I need to know!! I didn't even bother with an OPK because my cycle doesn't know the meaning of the word 'regular' (TMI, I know)

So, DH is coming with me (so cute) and we'll see what the experts say!! I'm optimistic!!

Thanks again everyone!
