Atkins dieters

Atkins dieters

About how much weight are you losing per week? I'm starting to freak out about how much weight I have to lose before the wedding and although it's not a halthy attitude, I want to do something that will work fast.

Thanks!

I know you don't want to hear this but...it varies per person. Some people lose at a steady rate while others find that the weight comes of sporadically. I've heard people refer to this as a 'whoosh' where they are not losing any weight off the scale but then one day a couple pounds come off all at once. (or so it seems) It all depends on how metabolically resistant you are. I lost pounds off induction (some of that may have been water though) and now I'm at the three week mark which tends to be touch. I've been the same for the past week now but it's just a matter of patience and hard work.

Also - it's better to lose the weight slowly - especially if you are looking to lose a lot. It tends to stay off and reduces the extra skin and such. IMO. I think 1 pound a week on average is a safe estimate.

I lost about 10 lbs. my first week (mostly water weight) but now I'm down to about 2 lbs a week. A woman I work with lost 40 lbs. since August.

I lost 35 lbs in 4 months last year. The next 10 came off slower. I want to lose 20 this year and I'm really have to 'work-out' hard to get more weight off now...

Good luck, you still have time to lose and get that dress taken in

I lost 23.5 lbs in three & a half months. I now am carb careful and have maintained the weight loss.

Wow - you guys did great!! I am seriously in trouble, and ideally I wuld go with weight watchers only b/c I love bread, pasta, etc. But I need a faster-working diet and one that is more strict - with ww all the options - whic are what is great about ww - were also my downfall.

Thanks everyone!

Re: Atkins dieters

Just for the record - I am an absolute BREAD addict, so if I can get thru Atkins, I think anyone can. The only time it really sucked was when I was sick (sinus infection or something) cause I could not bring myself to eating a steak or something when all I wanted was chicken noodle soup or a grilled cheese.

Here's my deal - I am petite and until I turned 30, I could eat ANYTHING (although I am not into sweets) and maintain my 100lb weight (yes, I was only 100lbs). Then I started gaining and it didn't help when I started with FH cause he's 6'5', 250+ eating machine. Anyway, I was up to 141lbs and about to bust out of a size 10 (big deal to a former 100lb size 2). FH's cousin took a picture of us at a grad party and I was SHOCKED at how I looked. Started Atkins the next day.

I had to hit the absolute bottom before I had the motivation.

Re: Atkins dieters

I've lost about 50 pounds in 5 months. I do have a lot more to lose than the other people here, so I will tend to lose quicker than others.
(I've lost about 80 pounds total, WW before Atkins, and I'd like to lose another 80 pounds)

I was also a bread/pasta addict; and I'm still alive, so you will be too!

Good Luck!

Re: Atkins dieters

Wow - thanks for the insight. I am 5'4' and am not even going to mention my weight I am so mortified but I was a size 12 when I met my FH and was pretty much creeping up and up even then, although I don't think I have ever been below a size 8. Now I am an 18 - god help me - and am freaking! AND I just got turned down by my insurance co to have breast reduction which I am bummed about b/c they make me look even bigger than I am.

OK, so anyway, I bought a few Atkins books last night. I have to figure out what the heck I am going to eat since now I basically live on pasta, bread, noodles, and coffee But Wendy it helps A LOT to know that you were a bread lover and you got through it. Thanks!

Re: Atkins dieters

I've done low-carb for since Jan 03. You can FM me any time if you just need to chat. I'm 5'3 and got up to a 16 it was scary, now I'm an 8/10 hoping to get to a size 4 by mid-summer.

Good luck!
