Thank for the info...

I heard this before so I really haven't had any Tuna at all, but whats ironic is that my Dr basically gave me Carte Blanche on the tuna and told me NO fruit or fruit juice....
Its so hard to keep up with this stuff....

oy - well look all I have wanted this whole time is tuna. I have it once a week. I guess if she glows we can use her as a nightlight!

I dont' mean to sound cocky....I just dont' know how women are supposed to keep up with all these things. The information changes so often! I guess I'll knock the tuna out now and add it to my 'bring me a hot dog to the hospital' list....

I just read an article in one of the Pregnancy magazines that tuna wasn't as dangerous as they thought!

Jen - I agree, I think that anything in moderation is fine whether pregnant or not. I was telling my mom (who had 7 kids) of all the rules that you have to follow now-a-days and what you shouldn't be eating and she laughed at me!!!

I think it depends on your Dr as well...my boss just announced that she is pregnant (and is due exactly 4 wks after me) and she was told no yogurt or eggs at all!?!? I eat them all the time!

My Dr told me that i could only eat 2 servinga week of tuna and to make sure that I eat alot of friut and whole grains.. I guess every Dr is different...

I agree with the moderation thing. The only things I was told to avoid completely were raw fish and meat, and unpasteurized dairy products.

I indulged in caffeine, hot dogs, deli cold cuts, and just about every other 'no-no' food when the mood struck.

Great.....I had tuna last night. I have been keeping the fish intake down though in general and here is why...........

One of my good friend's has a nephew that is autistic. Her sister (the boy's mother) is CONVINCED taht the autism was caused by mercury exposure. She thinks it was vaccinations in her case but she didn't eat one piece of fish when she was pregnant with her next child.

I asked a pediatrician aobut this who said that there is an entire school of thought that believes mercury causes autism but that there is no scientific evidence whatsoever to back it up.

It is curious that since this all began, the FDA have since removed the chemical Thimerasol (mercury based) from vaccines.

I mainstream a class of 7 autistic boys into my class once a week, and the mothers of most of them believe their autism was caused by the mercury in vaccines. I know that the studies done have been inconclusive, but my thought is why go looking for trouble.

I will be insisting on mercury free vaccinations, and no multiple vaccinations (such as the MMR).
