Attn Bankers or Married Brides or Anyone who can help!

From the wedding last week, several checks we got were literally made out to 'Bride and Groom' or 'Michelle and Hemendra' or 'Mr. and Mrs. S-----'

HOW DO WE DEPOSIT THESE CHECKS?? Specifically the ones that say 'Bride and Groom'. The one with both our first names I think we do in our joint account. The one with Mr and Mrs?!

DH and I have a joint account (in my maiden name) at Bethpage, they WOULDN'T let me deposit the ones addressed to 'Mr. and Mrs. C. Sev' I was in tears, we were leaving for our honeymoon the next day and I didn't know what to do. I asked them, how can this be?? they said I needed proof that I changed my name and my marriage certificate. Well . . .we didn't get a marriage certificate until 2 weeks after the wedding because the church and town had it, and it wouldn't have been possible to change my name without it!!

So I went to my bank, Citibank, and they took everything. They took the checks made out to DH only, the one's the said 'Mr. & Mrs.' AND we got 6 checks made out to Mr. and Mrs. Nickolaos, b/c this is his middle name and people didn't realize on the invitation.


I have to say, citibank saved my butt!!!

But we just went to our bank that knows us and we have a joint account....they knew we just got married

They took everything.

Ok thanks ladies. Now I just need to find out how the hell to cash 'Bride and Groom' checks without a marriage certificate!!!!!!!!

Just deposit those ones into the ATM instead of going to a teller.

ETA: Don't sign the check infront of the teller! Just have them signed already and deposit.

Good idea!

I didn't really have a problem depositing the checks at my bank (CitiBank). The ones made out to Mr. & Mrs. Smith, He signed his name and I signed my married names underneath and we deposited into our joint account.

As far as the 'Bride & Groom' or just first names, I have no idea. I think I would maybe check with your bank first and if they say they can't deposit it you are going to have to call the people you got the checks from and ask them to re-write you a check.

That's so weird that they would write it like that!

UMM Yeah!!! But you have to remember that whole wedding was bizarre lol - no rsvps, no idea how many people would show up, lolol
