Attn Crafters....where do you keep your supplies?

Attn Crafters....where do you keep your supplies?

My MIL asked me today for some ideas that I want for Christmas. I thought about it, and something I would like is a crafting box/tote bag or some type of central place to keep all of the supplies that I've accumulated. Right now, it's just stuffed into plastic bags, and is NOT organized at all, and makes it difficult for me to find stuff when I need it!

Any suggestions on a better system? If you have pictures, that would be wonderful!! Thanks!

Claud, you got me thinking since I'm in the process of trying to organize my craft room. So I did some searching and found an interesting site. I had more, but our guest is here from MA so I gotta dash.

I like these a lot - I think DH may find them on my hint list to him!

I just got this at Target...

I like that it looks like furniture.

It's $75 online and $90 in the store (works out to be the same with shipping though).

I have bought the organizers that KarenH has posted and they are GREAT!!

I suggest you get one of the Iris carts...the plastic carts...the ones with 3 big drawers are great and they have wheels on them. Get the one with a nice hard top and you can use that as work surface also!!

I will try and get a pic of it!!

Hmmm...Christine...I hadn't thought about getting a piece that looks like furniture...interesting idea, especially since I *eventually* want my guest room to double as my crafting 'suite'

I just use the regular plastic boxes with lids- i have some shoebox size and some larger. They stack.

I also took up 2 drawers in dh's dresser!

I have this, and it's currently holding a lot of craft stuff. Totally not what I bought it for, but whatever. I originally wanted a clear box thing on wheels, so I could wheel it into a closet, then I realized that I have no closet that it would fit into. (I have a small apartment and way too many shoes. ) I don't scrap, so I'm not sure if it fits paper, probably not since it's not that deep, only like 10 inches or so. Anyway, it's from pier 1, and it was $149, they also have one that it only one set of three drawers for $99

I have this which is a good option for furniture in a multi-purpose room, since the workspace table folds down. It's sturdy enough to hold a sewing machine.

I'm liking this one too.

The web site is Home Decorators

SomedayBride...you are a woman after my very own heart!

Thank, ladies...these are all great ideas AND very helpful. I am 'inheriting' my Grandmother's sewing table, so that will already be in the room. I'm liking the idea of something on wheels that could potentially roll away into a closet .

I'll have to mull it over, and then decide.

I have a 4 draw rubbermaid chest thing.. its got wheels.. so i use one draw for paper one for tools one for stickers and die cuts and other embellishemts and i the bottom draw is for all the albums i havent used yet. i also have a 8 gallon tub also (for bigger items ) and it like it because i am in an apt and i dont have an extra room so i put it in my bedroom for now and i wheel it into the living room when i want to scrap..

Somedaybride - I like that!

Erica - it does fit 12x12 but you have to lay the paper flat so I will use the top 3 shallow drawers for that and the deeper ones for the tools & supplies.

Claud- I saw a really great rolling cart thing at Michael's this week. It has a place tons of compartments. I think if you had a ton of large supplies it wouldn't be great but for papers, patterns, scissors, glues, beads etc..is would be great.

Right now I use one of my colored 'rubbermaid' type boxes. I have stuff organized into bags also, since its just a box. I was also thinking of getting something like what christine has that looks nice too

Im not sure where Im going to 'set up shop' since baby # 2 just claimed my 'crafting turf'
and the house itself just claimed alot of our time in 'more important' projects so for a little while, my lavandar box will do. I even have coloring books, crayons and paint-w-water books for when kids come over and are bored.. So far Ive used this box since we moved here and Im used to how I have it organized, so it'll have to do...
I havent started scrapbooking yet, that's when I'll need LOTS more space

Claud, that table youre getting from grandma will be a great start!

Here is what my scrapbooking area looks like--
basically I bought the drawer units from Target and then my 12 X12 paper is in my desk drawer-- I started out with 2 units, then 3 now 4..... I am having way too much fun shopping!!!!

I have TONS of craft stuff so I have lots of places-I'd love to have a whole room devoted to my craft stuff someday.
For now my daughter's craft stuff is in an under the bed storage box-under the couch. She does her crafts on the kitchen table-so it makes it easy for her to set up & clean up.
I have my scrappin stuff that I take to crops & stuff in this & I love it

I also take this with me

and this stays home with extra stuff

All of my off season stuff I keep in Rubbermaid containers in the attic.

I think this is awesome-but I don't have room for it right now

We have this, but it's in my daughters room-she uses it for her TV, books & homework station, but it's a lot less $ then the other one & could be set up the same way.

Today's Office Max flyer had these listed on sale - I'm eyeing the front one in the second panel, with the two shallow drawers and 2 deep drawers.
