Re: ATTN: ITALIAN BRIDES
Here are some Italian traditions according to Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette Book:
You shouldn't wear any gold until after your wedding band is slipped on. It is bad luck.
Italians believe that Sunday is the luckiest day to get married.
The best man greets everyone coming to the reception with a tray of liquor.
A common toast is 'Per cent' anni!' which means 'For a hundred years!'
All the men at the reception kiss the bride for good luck-- and to make the groom jealous.
Wedding knots or farfallette dolci, are made of twisted dough and are popular wedding treats in Italy.

Re: ATTN: ITALIAN BRIDES
the night before the wedding, the bride wears green for fertility
I'm wrapping a ribbon on the doors of the church. It symbolizes the uniting of two familiey.
I just bougt 30 lbs of jordan almonds (confetti) because it wouldn't be a wedding without them.
This was a good question, I would like to see what other traditions are out there.

Re: ATTN: ITALIAN BRIDES
We had the confetti sent to us from our family in Italy. Like another bride said before me it would not be an italian wedding without it!

Re: ATTN: ITALIAN BRIDES
the jordan almonds are an italian tradition... you should give 5 to each of your guests to symbolize their 5 wishes for you: health, prosperity, happiness, fertility, longevity.

Re: ATTN: ITALIAN BRIDES
We did the 5 almonds like everyone else.
When I got married I had to cut a ribbon that was tied outside (across two posts at the front entrace) before I could enter the limo and leave for the church. It was traditional in my parents hometown in Italy. (The rice throwing starting already at that point.)
Another tradition for my parents hometown in Italy was to have the grooms parents bring her bouquet to her the morning of the wedding. Of course due to logistics for us that was hard to do. It would have been a nice gesture though.
