ATTN: John Anthony Brides who cancelled their contract

Hi Gals, Hope you have all found a second place of your dreams. My question is have any of your received your money back yet? If so how long did it take after you cancelled your contract for you to receive it?

Thanks

Hi Kerry - I actually had my Mom and Dad physically go down to JA's and get the deposit check back. They went straight to the bank on the check and cashed it. Done deal, no questions asked from JA's (which I cannot believe?!?!).
I mean, nothing! And I have been hearing so many rumors as to what is going on with the place...again, all rumors. But it gives me the piece of mind we re-booked. I wonder what everyone else did? Stay or re-book?
Good Luck! And Woodbury CC is fabulous! Food, grounds, etc....you made a great choice.

I called them and cancelled. She said that I needed to send them a letter and when they receive the letter, they will mail me my check. I sent in the letter on a Monday and got my check by that Thursday/Friday (can't remember which day but it was the same week that I sent in the letter). I still have not booked another place yet but will be doing so soon

Oh and P.S. - I was surprised there were no questions asked either..

We were also told to send a letter and they would give us the deposit. We brought the letter to them and picked up the check the same day. As with everyone else, no questions asked. They were very nice about the whole situation. Unfortunately, we have not yet chosen a new place

We stopped at Fox Hollow today and we were told that somebody bought JA's???? The woman couldn't remember the name of the company. Anyone hear anything about this?

Really? Wow. No, did not hear anything about this.

Again, what I heard was RUMOR....the owners of La Grange in West Islip bought it...or were going to or something like that.
I also heard they were going to knock it down and build condos on the property...I have heard so many/recieved emails 'SO, did you HEAR...'...I just don't believe anything!

Yeah, I guess we won't know the truth. Maybe it will be posted in newsday like the last article about the Chapter 11? I am just glad that I have peace of mind now since we are no longer doing it at JA's even though we still don't have a new place but I'm confident we will find one soon.

Why, you still didn't get your money back?? If not, I would go and get it as soon as possible especially since you found your new place

Hey dolphin,

Did you find out what the story was today??

Is that why everyone is cancelling there? Because of the article in Newsday?

Re: ATTN: John Anthony Brides who cancelled their contract

Part of the reason was the newsday article. My reason was for peace of mind.. IMO, I didn't want to have to worry... there are enough things to worry about on your wedding day..

I too cancelled at JA's. They will tell you they fully expect to be in business on your wedding date but cannot guarantee it. I am the same as July2004Bride - I just want the peace of mind so I am finding a new place. JA's is continuing business as usual, including booking new parties.

Hi All

Anyway, on Saturday I received my check from JA. Thank you gals. And sorry to keep you waiting July2004Bride!

No I actually never called them. I was giving it the weekend to receive my check and then I was going to call today if I did not get my check. Sorry no new info!
