Did you get the notice in the mail about how the staff at land's end is already compensated based on the per person fee that the tips for the bridal attendant, maitre d etc are not necessary?
I would love to believe that is true but wanted to get the confirmation of another bride because I don't want to short them. I'm thinking about still tipping them something but not sure how much is appropriate in this case.
TIA!

Re: Attn Land's End brides! re tipping
a few months ago...and Jenny (Dipalma...who is you banquet manager??) also mentioned it in one of our initial meetings. I think I'll just ask her again, because if they are getting paid well then I dont want to overpay, but I know they are going to do a great job and I will want to give them something, you know?

Re: Attn Land's End brides! re tipping
There aren't many land's end brides here. Let's chat about our weddings. Are you adding anything special to the venue? It's already so beautiful...my major gripe is the wreath that hangs over the doors to the reception hall. I hate that thing...

that's too funny! I don't think i've ever noticed it!!
I was a big fan of the high ceiling but not a big fan of the look of the ceiling, so we are getting some drapes done, the one i picked is in my details photo album.
How much do you love the cordial room/bridal suite?! Are you leaving it open for the reception or opening it at dessert?

I am getting the draping done too! I friggin love the draping. It was up when I first saw the place, and then when I came back for the showcase I almost cried I was so happy. It's soooo beautiful.
And I absolutely LOVE the cigar room. It's staying open all night, I want people to enjoy it. Although, I also love the idea of having it be a surprise for the end of the night.
YAY I am so glad we found each other. :)

Re: Attn Land's End brides! re tipping
We actually did a tasting right before we booked...we wanted to try the food before committing and it worked out that we could. I will be in touch with Jen to see if we can do another. If not, I think we would be okay without it. All of the food was SO amazing!
I am doing the criss cross patterns with the crystals. It's so beautiful and I am thrilled.

Re: Attn Land's End brides! re tipping
I talked to Jenny. I rescheduled our tasting to March 4th so I can now attend! yay!!!
And she said that the standard for tipping (although its up to our discretion) is $2-3 per person for the Maitre De and $50-100 for the bridal attendant. That's what I thought the standard was apart from getting that letter LOL! But maybe it meant just the serving staff/bartenders? I don't know, but I don't want to undertip so I guess thats what we'll be doing.
The criss cross pattern is awesome!! We went with the circular pattern since it was a bit cheaper.
are you doing viennese hour or any other add ons? I think we are going to do a viennese hour! We already committed to an extra hour of open bar, which we are adding 1/2 hour to cocktail and the other 1/2 to reception!

Re: Attn Land's End brides! re tipping
Does the letter reference a 20% gratuity or 20% administrative fee? Typically, if the waitstaff is compensated more, you would still tip the bridal attendant and maitre 'd accordingly.

Hmm...we went to one before we booked, and we were told we would be able to go again. I wonder if there will be another one before my date in June. Wouldn't be able to go in March, anyway. :(

Hey girl!! I am getting married the day after you. Find out if anyone booked the daytime slot on the 30th (last I checked, that was a no). If not, talk to Keyth about the draping. I am having it for my wedding, and maybe he can just put it up a day early for you and we can split the cost. Less work for him!

That would be fantastic! What type would u be doing? Also do u think it would be awkward that I met with Lovin' Oven about flowers but went a different way because of price?

Re: Attn Land's End brides! re tipping
I am doing the criss cross pattern. I don't think it would be awkward. When I met with him, I told him that I had to have the draping. He told me to book it immediately because the prices were going up in 2012, but he would honor the 2011 prices when I met with him. He said that way, even if I went with a different florist, I'd be locked in for the draping.
