I have not yet mastered the low carb diet. I am going to do more research tonight online. However, I think my breakfast may have been a no-no. I wanted to get fruit but had no $ and my ATM card chose today not to work - yay!
So...all I had in the house for breakfast was Honey Nut Cheerios or small frozen bagels with fat free cream cheese. I had the Cheerios with skim milk and coffee with skim and Equal.
How did I do? bad i think.......

Re: Attn Low Carb'ers!!
Oh boy- I would say they wouldn't be that bad except the cheerios (honey nut) have TONS of sugar.. but no biggie- just don't eat any carbs for the rest of the day- I would say also try to drink 4 or 5 glasses of water between now and lunch- flush it out!
When you go home tonight- you need to get prepared- make a bunch of hardboiled eggs, cut up some melon and put it in baggies- you'll be ALL set...

Re: Attn Low Carb'ers!!
I know I can do breakfast and lunch no problem. Those will be my no carb meals. Dinner is another story. I don't have the time or the $ to make seperate dinners for myself and Tom. I can try and keep the meals low carb though!
ETS; OK, so let's say I had the cheerios for breakfast, I have my low carb salad for lunch - what the heck would I make for dinner?

Re: Attn Low Carb'ers!!
Just think calmly for a second. When I first did low carb I thought I couldn't eat anything for dinner- but then I realized that I just eat the same things (besides pasta) without making a starch....
So, for example, you could make a london broil, two different veggies- and a salad- that type of think- I don't think you need to make something different for Tom- I don't cook any different for John.. however- Plus- he'll lose some weight too. If he does need a starch, make him some corn.

Re: Attn Low Carb'ers!!
I thought I would have this problem RE: the separate meals. You just have to be STRONG! DH would rather have starch instead of veg, but I always insisted on making a square meal, so now if I make say a steak, brocoli and rice - I won't eat the rice (HARD!) but instead double up on veg or make a salad. Plus I snack on a cheese stick or nuts while cooking.

Re: Attn Low Carb'ers!!
Sorry I can get a little hyper on these things.. LOL
So basically I can make a meat plus some veggies and /or a salad? I am sure I will get the hang of it, I think it does take some planning. I am really going to look at recipes tonight.

Oh yeah- I cook the same exact way- just no more starch... I make a super big salad with walnuts, gorgonzola cheese, and great veggies- I make a homemade vingairette- or I make oil & vinegar right on the salad.. (I HATE HATE HATE bottled dressings...)
Once we buy the BBQ I'm gonna be ALL ABOUT THE GRILL....

Re: Attn Low Carb'ers!!
question:
sometimes in mid-morning and late afternoon my stomach starts growling. I drink a ton of water but it just doesn't cut it.
In the vending machine there is a 'trail mix' of nuts, seeds and raisins.
Is it ok to get this and pick at it?

I would pick around the raisins.. BUT if you eat a proper low carb breakfast- you will not be hungry until lunch.

Sass... GET THE GRILL! LOL
I am getting so many more ideas now as opposed to when we were doing this over the winter. And I hate cooking when its so hot outside. Usually I would make a tub of some kind of cold pasta salad with tuna or crab meat and/or veggies, and munch on that for dinner for a couple of days, but since thats out I'm glad to be cooking outside. Plus everything tastes better!
For dinner I have chicken thighs marinating in honey mustard viniagrette and I think I will try grilling some cauliflower!

Definitly try to eat something between meals! Don't hold out till lunch. Eat smaller meals.
