Just curious, does anyone do audio books in the car?

Re: Audio anyone?
DH listens to them everyday. He's got a bit of a drive to work and listening to the books makes the time go by faster and keeps him from getting stressed in traffic.
A couple of times, we'll be 'reading' the same book at once (I'll be reading - he'll be listening to the book on tape/CD). In fact, I think we're both working on Prodigal Summer right now.
Also, on road trips, we take some books on tape with us.

I used to love them b/c I travelled a lot for my job. They got me through bumper to bumper traffic for sure! We also took a few kid ones along on family tripsfor my H's daughters and they enjoyed them. Something different, y'know.

I used to do that after I got layed off and was going to school. I had a 30 min commute each way and I would eat lunch in the car too. I 'read' lots of books that way!! Harry and I even did it on long car rides!!
Its a good idea...maybe I will get a book to 'read' when my friend and I go on our cross country trip!!!

what I like about it is that it is very discriptive....you hear the noises, different voices for different charaters. It reminds me of the radio theater shows they used to have in the 50's (not that I am that old and remember them...I have been told about them!!! LMAO)

Lisa - lol:)
I tried a couple of times but I couldnt get into it. I dont know if it was the book or that my mind basically goes blank while I am driving?
Edited to say, one of my friends does this all the time as he has over an hour commute each way and loves it.
