Not exactly sure when I should send invitations out... People need to book a hotel 4 weeks prior to the wedding date so that is by the end of July. I was thinking of sending invites out the last week in June and have a RSVP date of August 7- 3 weeks prior to the wedding.
What is the typical timing of sending invitations?

you would want more than 3 weeks... the general time frame is 4-5 weeks before...

I am the 27th. I am sending them the thrid week in June so they get them by June 27th, RSVP July 27th. Which still leaves me a month for seating arrangements. etc.

That sounds perfect. So 8 weeks before the wedding date send the invites out and RSVP is due 4 weeks before the wedding date!!!! Awesome.... also gives us enough time depending how quick you get the RSVP's back to send some invites out to the B list if needed. lol!

exactly.... and usually there is sooo much stuff that you have to do in the last month... you dont want to cram even more stuff in a shorter amount of time if you dont have to

Re: August 28 Bride
Just remember that people take FOREVER to RSVP!!!! We put a date 6 weeks before our wedding on as the RSVP-by date and were still tracking people down 2 weeks before so I could do the seating and get a final count. It was annoying, but it always happens.
Summer weddings are tricky because people really need to (and like to ) plan far in advance. Ours was in the middle of July so a lot of people were OOT. Yours is right when people are usually on their final summer vacation, so you want them to plan early.
We sent our invites out April 1 for our July 18 wedding. It was a little early, but people appreciated being able to plan in advance. So, based on my timeline, I'd say you could send your invites out by the second or third week of May if you want to be on the early side.

6-8 weeks prior... So the end of June at the earliest and mid-July the latest.

I'm sending out the invitations 3 months before, so that I have plenty of time to track down all the delinquent people who don't RSVP.
