Aunt Flo

Soo......
How are all of you ladies handeling this??? I plan on going to my obgyn once we have the date (I have to go anyway) and telling her to do whatever needs to be done so that Aunt Flo doesn't pay her visit anywhere near that date.... any ideas?

go on the pill...

if it works out you will have it on your wedding...you can just skip it!

Re: Aunt Flo

on the pill, i'm like clock work, and in the past it's taken a long time for me to do the whole no period for a while thing....and I still usually end up having it even if I go 3 straight months taking the pill skipping the sugar pills.... That's why I don't know what I should do... my body is strange!!!!

I actually went through my little desk calendar with a highlighter and marked every week that I'm scheduled to have it based on my current birth control routine. Then I booked my date around it. Did not want to be on my period during my wedding or honeymoon! It may sound a bit OCD, but that would be such a bummer! lol

It just works out that I get mine like clockwork around the 1st of the month, so I'm in the clear for my date!

I'm been on the pill for a while, so my doctor told me to throw out the first three pills in every pack, and this would push my period back far enough that it wouldn't get in the way of the wedding (I was supposed to get it the day before )

I did the SAME thing I thought I was crazy at first (booking the wedding around A.Flo) but i really don't want her to visit for the wedding and honeymoon!!!

Re: Aunt Flo

My main concern is getting the place we LOVE, I would rather re-arrange A.Flo around the date.... We are doing our honeymoon a few months later, just to break up the winter a bit, so that I will organize around A.Flo.

I would say going on the pill is the best way to control not having it.

I actually track on MyMonthlyCycle.com and it will give you estimated dates (based on the average lengths of your periods) of when you will get it.

if you're on the pill you can make it so you dont get. i cant go on the pill because of health issues, so i just picked a date without thinking...then i tried to figure it out since im pretty regular...it is working out that I will have it at the end of the honeymoon or right when we get back! whewwwwww

Yup. the Pill. Fortunately I was already on it and didn't have to do anything to change my time cuz I'm getting it exactly 1 week before the wedding so timing worked anyway.

Anytime you start a new birth control pill (or shot) your going to have break through bleeding, so make sure you start sooner rather than later so your body can adjust.

Then once your cycled on the pill, you can try to skip over the placebo (sugar) pills. Most of the time they are the last week or so of the cycle. Usually that will hold off your period until the next cycle where you take the placebo pills and drop the hormone levels down.

One thing i will advise against is the Depo shot. Almost every patient i talk to says that it makes you gain a good amount of weight. I rather have my period for my wedding than get fat, lol.

Good luck

Re: Aunt Flo

I'm lucky, I have Mirena IUD, and no menses . But it's not for everyone, the manufacturer states women who don't have children, are not good candidates.

Depo is known for weight gain and irregular bleeding. If you go on oral contraceptives to skip your menses, you should tell the GYN this, so that they can prescribe the correct one. There are some OC's that you cannot skip your menses on; triphasics ( like ortho-tri-cyclen.) But like someone else posted, you should do it sooner, because sometimes when you start OC's, you tend to have break through bleeding.

Right before our ceremony started I said to my bridesmaids I have to go to the bathroom!! They were like, no you don't you're just nervous. I was like yes I do!!! So I stalled the ceremony and ran to the bathroom....Aunt Flo arrived. I was prepared and all, but it ******!!!!! I had cramps and the usual upset stomach:( The good thing is a tleast it is short and was gone by day 3 of my honeymoon.

Luckily, I'm pretty chubby to begin with! LOL. However, oddly enough I started losing weight the second that ring got on my finger. I teased FH that since one of the reasons my dad left my mom was b/c she gained weight, I guess subconsciously I was staying chubby until he decided he was going to marry me as is.... Now I can get all cute & skinny and not worry about him leaving if I gain weight after having kids and such.
