Im just curious.... My FH has a nephew, he is 1.5 years old. When we first started dating FH's sister was 3 months pregnant, so i have been with the baby all his little life...
I still dont sign cards Aunt Dana yet and he cant really say my name, he just calls me Nayna. When should I start being referred to as Aunt? Does anyone else have this issue and how are you handling it?

I dont have a nephew through FH but my nephew responds to FH as Uncle Harli.
he did even before we were engaged.

I have been going out with FH for over 3 years and I have a 14 month old niece---the day after we got engaged, my sister refers to him as uncle in front of the baby, but she can't say unle, just Lou

MY FSIL had a baby a little over 2 years ago and a girl a few months ago. FH and I have been together over 5 years. FH's nephew (Jack) can't really say Aunt Alissa yet, it comes out more like just Awisha, but I was always referred to as Aunt Alissa, even to FH's cousin's little ones. Then again, I call FH's aunt and uncles, Aunt X and Uncle X.
ETA: You are going to be his aunt officially next year so he should start referring to you as Aunt Dana now, even if he can't totally see it, at least he hears it that way. Just start calling yourself Aunt Dana when you're around him.

my brother and his wife just had a baby and they already refer to me as aunt jeanette. and FH's brother and wife are about to have a baby in a few weeks and THEY even refer to me as aunt jeanette!! lol...so i guess i'm all set.
why wait for them to start? i think you should just start signing cards as 'aunt' and when you talk about anything having to do w you and the baby i think you should even refer to yourself as 'aunt'. if you start doing it then they'll do it too.

My nieces and nephews just call me Ashy....my sister in laws keep telling them its AUNT Ashley....but it never sticks...I prefer them to just call me Ashy...lol

They should be calling you Aunt now. My neice has always referred to my FH as Uncle and calls my brother's girlfriend Aunt.
His nephews are little different as they are in the age range of 15-5. The little ones will call me Aunt but the older ones feel funny so I don't push the issue. But they refer to me as their aunt.

We refer to me as 'Aunt Lynda' and FH is 'Uncle Mike' to all the kids on both sides of the family... Even to his friend's kids- LOL... I would start with the holidays this year - he's getting old enough that the AUNT will stick! (your FH 1 1/2 year old nephew)

its not something that can be forced...if the parents refer to you to the baby as aunt then it is fine...my MOH has 4 nephews that are her sisters kids and they dont even call her aunt! lol they just call her Jeri.....but my other friends kids call me aunt heather and they arent blood. it all depends on the family

When we were first dating, FH's nephews called me uncle mike's bestest friend, lol. Since then they started calling me aunt jessica. It's weird because I never had a niece or nephew and being referred to as aunt jessica definitely takes some getting used to.

As soon as FH and I were engaged his neice started calling me Aunt... She also started calling FH's sister's boyfriend uncle.

FH's sister has two babies (our flower girls) who are 1 & 2. I have been with FH for almost 5 years so from the beginning everyone said Aunt Crystan. Now that her older daughter started talking she calls me Auntie. I'm also the only aunt but I would say try to get into the habit right away. FH has uncles who married after he was born and he doesn't refer to some of them as aunt so i wanted to make sure that wasn't the case for us. By the way i love my FG's sooo much..LoL I just got excited thinking about them..lol

My nephew refers to my FH as uncle brian....so uncle b...or brian...but he is known as 'uncle'.

my nephews are 4 and 6 and i explained to them that when FH and I get married, they can call him uncle - they looked at me and laughed

Fh has 1 neice and 2 nephews ages 4-8.
On the engagement party video they said a message to fh and I and said uncle Steve and aunt Jess. That was the first time I heard it and I loved it
