Ava Maria

is anyone using this to walk into?? I planned on having the harpist play this outside at my ceremony which is at the hall...but after reading everyone posts it seems its being used for other things mostly...

Can this be played for the bride, what do you think??

Re: Ava Maria

i am using the version of ave maria by charles gounod to walk down the aisle to. which version were you thinking of using?

i actually haven't thought about whether it's really 'appropriate'... it's a piece i used to play on the piano as a child, so my whole family now associates it with me. and may is also the month of mary... i just thought it was a good fit for me. if you love the piece i say just go for it!!!

I am walking into the cermony to it. I hired a singer and a trio from Elite to perform it. I am hoping there won't be a dry eye in the church!!

I have a friend of mine that is a panist and he is playing at my church. He will perform that song for me. It will be in place of the soloist singing. I really don't know any singers.

I also want to walk down to Ava Maria, I do know other people who have to. I am going to have a singer.

Re: Ava Maria

Hi!

I've sung both versions of Ave Maria (Schubert, and Bach Gounod) at various weddings. I don't think there's an issue of whether or not it's 'appropriate' for your walk down the aisle. If you want to use that for your entrance, by all means do so -- it's your wedding, you make the rules! I've sung it at all different times throughout the ceremoy -- sometimes for the mothers' entrance, other times just placed somewhere in the ceremony.

BTW, the Schubert version is the most popular. I'm a proponent of the Bach Gounod -- it's truly stunning and not nearly as common. But, no matter how many times I've suggested it, most people have it set in their mind that they want the Schubert (it's beautiful, too).

I had a singer sing it during the ceremony while we were lighting the unity candle. Everyone commented on how nice that was.

Re: Ava Maria

I was at a wedding a couple of weeks ago where they played it at the church...not for the bride walking down the aisle, but they played it at one point in the mass (can't remember which...)
