Re: Average Cost
i think it all depends on your budget...i am a budget bride so my budget is different than others on here so my research for major vendors was more intense than some because of my budget limits....i say put your budget together and then divide up how much you have to spend on the vendors and see where it does from there. Just know that for a catered affair on LI at a hall with an average sized guest list you won't spend under 12k for the whole wedding.

Re: Average Cost
thanks for your comment, i appreciate it. i understand, but i'm trying to figure out what is a realistic budget also.
For example, i wouldnt want to budget $4k for a nice whiteglove service receptionhall, when in reality the average cost is going to be $10k
So the average of what i should expect is basically what i'm trying to figure out.

Re: Average Cost
We prioritized a lot in areas. I remember when I started planning thinking, oh tht doesnt sound like too much and then when I got to the vendor realizing all the extra fees. I can give you average prices we spent and maybe that will help...
DJ - 1300 (we want to have a fun atmosphere but not a club feel, we cut back on spending money on intense lighting and opted for basic lighting on the dance floor - i know lightening and live bands can be significantly more in price)
Photographer - 3500 (our photographer is prob a medium price. we priced around 3 places and chose the middle price, this included epics and 2 photographers for 8 hours)
Florist - 1800 (she is a family friend and will be providing flowers for the church, reception and the bridal party)
Limos 1000-1300 ( I havent booked limos yet but have been given prices in this range for a 20 passenger escalade and an antique car)

Re: Average Cost
for base packages or slightly upgraded I think the following...
limos: 1000-1500 photog: 2k florist: 1- 2k halls: this really varies but for about 150 ppl I think u can find a nice place for 10k DJ: 500-1k
A lot of these prices are averages of what u will pay for the base packages.
I am really not much of a help- i went to The Wedding Plaza and got the package there. For 5K I got Limo Photo Video Flowers DJ and FH Tux

Re: Average Cost
hall: $20,000 (for 120 people) photo/video: $3,500 (day of service 11am-12am, we get 3 fully edited DVDs, 1 unedited DVD, ~1,500 pictures, proof CD & 3 albums) band: $5,500 limo: $1,000 (12 passenger & an antique Rolls Royce, this is for 3 hours only)
don't forget to budget for tips as well.

Re: Average Cost
It all depends on what you want to spend, the prices can be half the cost of these or double (or more!) of these numbers:
For 'good DJ' I am assuming you want more than just a basic music package? If so, I would say $1500-2000
Photo: $3000 + Video: $1000 +
Florists: This is seriously dependant on what you need.
RH $32,500 for 200 people including entree upgrades, gratuity, maitre d tip Flowers - $3500 (we are going to try and talk them down a little tho, we haven't booked them yet) Limo - $800 for 2 10 passenger limos for 3 or 4 hours? I can't remember... Photo/Video -- $5700 DJ -- we aren't having one, we are having a band that isn't a real 'wedding' band, they are a bar band but they are charging us $2500 plus hotel rooms

Re: Average Cost
OK, here's my break-down:
DJ's basic package: $1700. We added lighting because we want a massive dance party.
Photo: $3800. This includes two photogs for 10.5 hours, 500 prints, a few enlargements, 2 parent albums with 24 pages, bride & groom album with 60 pages.
Video: N/A.
Limos: We got a 30 passenger party bus for $1300.
And I haven't booked my florist yet. HTH!

Re: Average Cost
My budget is very tight but I´ll share my max amount for each service
DJ/Photo/Video: 1K each Limos: $550 (includes transportation home after wedding) But in reality would like to spend much less if possible. RH: $70pp Flowers: $300 (I´m doing candle centerpieces) - After reading the costs of people on here this seems really unrealistic. I think I may end up having to do my own boKs.
I have a budget spreadsheet that´s really complete. It includes everything you will need even the wedding bands, stocking for day of etc. It also has approx amounts for each category. If you want me to send it to you FM your email address.
Weddingwire.com also had a budget spreadsheet that´s pretty complete and it gives you approx amounts per item.

Re: Average Cost
theweddingchannel . com has a really good budget calculator under the my tools tab. It takes almost everything into consideration (right down to your $40 marriage licence), and you can uncheck things if you don't need them.. It's helped me SOOOOOO much when FH and I got engaged. I was like 'what is all of this going to cost us???!!!' What I suggest doing is taking your total budget for your wedding - say $25,000 - and cut it in half - $12,000. That is what your RH should cost (including taxes and those included tips). Then you can go from there...
