Average Dress Price

What do you think is the average price to spend a dress? What is the most you would pay??

Re: Average Dress Price

there have been many discussions about this subject bc you get one side of girls saying 'its stupid to spend so much on a dress' and the other side saying 'you have to spend a lot for your one day'

its all up to you and what you feel comfortable with. i don't really know if there is an average....i would say generally i see about $1000-$2000 on here.

for me personally, i didn't set a budget...my mom was paying for the dress and she said, whether the dress is $200 or $8000, if we loved it, she would buy it. i guess i went over the 'average' but i love my dress and it was our decision, its perfect and i cannot wait for it to come in.

Re: Average Dress Price

I am very lucky that my mom is also paying for my dress..it has been a tradition in my family...my great grandma purchased my grandmas and my grandma purchased my moms and now its my turn!! So i guess we will see...but if it came down to it and my mom said ok i can spend this much on the dress and it was slightly more, I would put in the rest...so i guess we will see..

people have spent a few hundred $$ and others tens of thousands.....

Re: Average Dress Price

Most dresses I've seen on here are about 1-2k...they can def. run lower and higher, but I think thats the 'average'

Re: Average Dress Price

My dress is rather expensive but my parents are paying for it so it doesnt break my bank. I think really depends on the designer you are looking at.

Re: Average Dress Price

Our budget was $1500...we spent $1525 on the dress and the veil together.

Personally I wanted to spend whatever it took to have my dream dress, but there wasn't an unlimited amount of money to throw at it

Re: Average Dress Price

I have no idea. My friend paid almost $4,000 for her dress and it was on sale. I got mine on sale for $850. It all depends of the designer and material I guess.

I chose to spend less because I want to change into something for my reception, so the extra money can go towards that outfit.

Re: Average Dress Price

I have such a dilemma with this it frustrates me so much so I won't know until I actually look. My budget is currently set at 3500 including alterations but all the dresses i see online regardless of designer, just ones that catch my eye and are what I'm looking for seem to be over 5k and then I want to cry who knows...on here I agree with the others average 1-2k but some people went really high and then others found beautifulll dresses for less so it all depends, I'm crossing my fingers.

Re: Average Dress Price

I have no clue what I'm in for. My family lives out of state so until my mom and/or sister can travel to NYC for dress shopping, I'm just going to keep my head in the sand like an ostrich. I will be wearing a traditional dress for the ceremony and an Indian lehnga for the reception, that much I know. Since the lehnga is going to be beaded and sequined (is that a word?), I definitely want to go for a more simple traditional dress for the ceremony.

Re: Average Dress Price

i also agree that 1k-2k is average...

for me, my parents are paying for my dress, n they set a budget for everything (dress, alterations, veil, headpiece, shoes) at $3000.

my dress is about 1600, the headpiece and veil i want come to less than $500 altogether, and my alterations cap is at $250, im putting cups in so thats $25 and then my bustle ill guess will be about $100, so that puts me at a lil over $500 left for shoes and jewelry!!!

Re: Average Dress Price

Re: Average Dress Price

I agree, it seems like the avg is between 1-2k.

My parents are paying for my dress, veil, headpiece, shoes, and accessories. When I started looking I didn't have a budget set, I was just trying to find a style that I loved. My dress was around $1300, so I was very happy since I was expecting it to be much higher. This doesn't include my alterations which is capped at $250.

Although, my veil and headpiece was $300 each. I wasn't expecting to pay that much - but I just fell in love! I would say everything all together will be around 3k.

Re: Average Dress Price

Not sure what average is. My Mom is paying for my dress and assume she will keep me to some sort of a budget. I might kick in if I go over...b/c it seems like every dress I like is more than $3,000
