i was hoping u can tell me what every1 is getting in an average photo package.i am asking b/c i wanna go to patken and say this is what i want...this many proofs, albums, type of photoa etc.. how much will it be...same goes to video what did u make sure was included?

That's very hard to respond to because some photographers have packages and some have custom pricing. I went to 7 photgraphers and asked for the relatively same thing and the price ranged from $2800-$4500! We wound up going with the one in the middle, who gave us a lot more than Patken for only $150 more than Patkens price. This was just for photos. Video prices were closer in price around $1600-$2100. Make sure you get your negatives!

my $.02:
don't get sucked into the 'packages' and make your decision based on who gives the 'biggest bang for the buck'. really look at the photographs and figure out what you like/don't like. you can always get the albums, thank you cards, enlargements AFTER the fact and they don't have to come from the place you got your photographer. you can always make an album later, you can't retake the day...
figure out what you want, then have a custom package created to fit your budget. this is a long process. the way i figured it out was i shopped around and looked at the extremes - what will $500 get me, what will $10K get me, only then could i make a judgment call as to what something was 'worth' to me. it helped me define my priorities, and made me feel better about my ultimate decision.

I guess 'average' is hard to say. I can tell you what I was looking for:
- Bridal Leather Album with a mix in size of pics but somewhere of about 40 - 60
- Parent album with about 25 pics (I just want one)
- Proofs (all - guaranteed at least 300)
- Negatives
- 5x7 Pic for the bridal party
- 20x20 pic (for house)
- 125 Thank yous (pic on cover)
- Video (basic with clean edit) - allow pictures to be added
There may have been more but this is basically what we wanted. I'll look at the contract tonight and let you know what we're getting.
We're using Patken too and I am excited. Very good first impression and very happy with the quality of work I saw. I like that they offer make your own packages and of course you can always add on so you can be somewhat modest like we were.
