The rug I really like is 5x8 and is almost $500 at Pottery Barn. Is this an average price for a rug or is it on the expensive side? I live in an apt. in manhattan right now. We only want something for about a year or so and then we will throw it away(when we move to a house)...i.e. I am looking for something reasonable.
Any suggestions? Is pottery barn my best bet or can I find nice area rugs at a more reasonable price somewhere else?
THANKS!

Re: Average price for rugs...
I think that's kinda average- we paid about that but we got ours at Bloomingdales. I think that's alot though for a rug you're going to throw out in a year from now.

Re: Average price for rugs...
Rugs are ridiculously expensive!! I could not find anything I liked until I went to Home Expo...Home Depot's design store. They had TONS OF GREAT RUGS. The rug we got was expensive (over 1000), but I really liked it. They also had an enormous selection.
Here are two cheaper alternatives:
Ikea and the Pottery Barn Outlet in Riverhead also has a bunch of rugs.

Re: Average price for rugs...
Home expo had some nice ones. I got 2 5x7's (then I tapes them together to make 1 big rug) for under $400. However...I got really nice ones for 3 other rooms in my house...and I spent about $1200 on each one! You can definately tell the difference in quality when you look at them though. Good luck!
