Wedding gown prices are entirely subjective. I would answer this question a lot differently than others. But, also based on what your friends spent, etc. That was my basis-- my mom LOVED that

I went to a Michelle Roth sample sale and bought my wedding gown from her. i spent $700 on it. a friend who bought her gown from RK bridal spent $800 (a lace mermaid dress). another friend bought her strapless scalloped carolina herrera gown from loehmann's for $500! - now that's a great deal!

The Amsale I loved and wanted was $2999

i made sure i kept my eye on www.NewYorkMetro.com (sale listings) & www.NYSale.com like a hawk! you get a designer name gown at a price you can afford! what beats that? the fabric material is beautiful, the style is amazing, etx!
from experience you must get there early! if they open at 10am you get there at 8am! - depending on the name... =P i went to a vera wang sample sale one day.. the sale starts at 9am.. i get there with my fellow bride-to-be friends at around 7am and believe it or not there were several other bride-to-be's who camped over! i'm talking sleeping bags, thermos bottles, food, mags, flashlights.. my goodness! these were no-joke brides-to-be's!
although there was a lot of work put into getting my dress, i wouldn't change the experience. good luck with your search for your THE dress! =)

I got mine from Netbride.com. I am on order to receive in the beginning of Feb. I have heard nothing but good things and they were really helpful. My dress is a Maggie Sottero and it was 750 at Rk Bridal, 558 at Bridesave.com and 391 plus 10 for shipping at Netbride.com. Big Savings!!!!

My dress was only about 800 total with tax and all. Honestly it was THE one and if the price tag said 3k I probably would have bought it anyway... I just got lucky

eta. I got mine at commack wedding center. They have a TUN of dresses and MOST were well under 1k. They dont have the best reputation for service although I never had a problem with them.

Mine was only $700 with alterations.

I think I got a pretty good deal and it was exactly what I wanted and it fit just right.

Yes, Ronkonkongomonga -- I have to agree -- I do not see myself sleeping outside of Vera Wang! I also could not imagine doing the Filene's Basement craziness when they have hundreds of brides storm the place, either.
