Wish I had a door to have someone knock on. I'm in a cube and I have my back towards everyone and everyone can see my screen!

Hide under your desk ...

Well since I don't have an office I DO have to come up with creative ways to avoid my co-workers

I will pick up the phone and talk into my own voicemail or my machine at home if I catch someone coming my way that I don't want to chat with I'll be jotting down notes on my pad, to make it look like a 'business call'

OR since I'm always hacking away on here, if people are facing the opposite side of my work station they just assume I'm REALLY busy on a Brief of something, and I even will go so far as to say 'yeah I'm SO SWAMPED, wish we could chat' while I CTRL+TAB my way back into a Word document

Oh absolutely!!! I do it aaaallll the time. I also won't pick up the phone after 4:50pm. And I even told my boss. He got into the terrible habit of calling me EVERYDAY at 4:55pm to rehash my day and talk BS. He'd keep me on the phone until 5:30 sometimes... as if I didn't have a life to go home to at the end of the day just cause he didnt'!!!

Eventually he picked up on it, cause he knew I wasn't ducking out early, and he mentioned it to me and I flat out told him. Don't call me to keep me on the phone BSing at ten to five. I won't pick up. I said if it's actually important, page me, that's why I have to wear the pager, right?

I also program end-of-the-day emails to send out after I'm already gone so that:

1. It looks like I'm working late (my boss doesn't know how to find out what time the email was actually written at! )

2. My boss calls me after EVERY email I send him. If I'm gone, he can't.

I have 2 lines in my office - the one I answer, and the one I give out to people which I NEVER answer!! LOL!

Is there any reason why you want to avoid them?

I work in a small office where it's hard to avoid anyone.

During lunchtime I did. Never on purpose. I actually wanted people to stop by. My office was away from the crowd, so no one ever came by.

I hope my next job will be better.

I do the fake phone call thing, but there is the one woman who WON'T leave

ETA- she jsut came around to introduce the new temp-- and had to make a stupid comment about how we have the same name. Now se is showing her the boss's office. There is NO need for a temp to go in there . ( he is out this week)

I talk to almost no one here. It's always some sort of drama if I do anyway. I have a few good friends I talk to but the other 200 people I avoid!
