A close friend of my family died yesterday after battling leukemia for 10 years. She was 65, and has three kids, 23, 26 and 28. The 26 year old got cancer about 3 years ago, and is now in remission (after a rough bout of chemo). In May, the 23 year old was diagnosed with the same kind of cancer (hodgkins). Now their mom died yesterday. It's such a horrible thing to have happen, and it was such a surprise. I feel like I JUST saw her at my wedding a few months ago and she was totally fine. I was just watching my wedding video and she looks so beautiful and vibrant. It's a strange feeling because I didn't know her that well (I've known her all my life but we only saw her a few times a year), but I'm SO sad. It's just the whole situation and thinking about what that family is going through. So I guess I don't really know what I'm asking...it's just I don't really know who to talk to about this because I feel like I shouldn't even be this sad about it. So maybe just send good thoughts to the family? Thanks for listening.

That is a sad story. It is normal to feel sad about it because the family has definitely touched your life in some way. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

It is perfectly normal for you to feel sad - she was a friend of the family! And she left behind people who love her. I'm sure they would welcome your condolences.
