Me and my husband had turned down a side street in Patchogue and these two boys around 13 years old flagged us down and asked us to stop. A 87 year old man had fallen down and the boys could not get him up. So my DH helped pick him up and we drove him to his house one block over. I felt so sad for him. He said to us he wasnt as young as he used to be. You could tell he had bad arthritis throughout his body. After we dropped him off he thanked us and said Merry Christmas. Me and My Dh cried after because we felt so bad for him. And it hit my DH cause his Name was AL and that was his grandfathers name who passed away, also had bad arthritis and he looked a little like him too.. God Bless our Elderly and all the grandparents out there!!! This is the second old person I have seen fallen within 2 weeks..

That's really sad...it's so hard to see what the aging process can do to someone. IT was very sweet of you to bring him home.

Re: Awwwwwh Poor old Man!!
God Bless, You and DH, I work with the elderly every day, they are beyond precious, and I am attached to each and everyone of them in a very special way, I really love them. and there funny, yesterday at work Dorothy, who knows me fairly well said whats wrong today, honey and I go well I have a slight headache and feel a lil crampy, I said I am probally going to be getting my women thing soon, so about and hour later she is up in her wheel chair and I go in her room to check her room mate and with a loud shout Dorothy yells OH, Melissa why are you wearing white pants on your PERIOD And everyone heard and started to laugh, I go Dorothy I do not have it yet just symptons, and she goes OH, sorry honey. I think that is the loudest she has ever been. I have so many wonderful stories and memories from them all, and I always think how it is they who paved the way for this Country to be so great from all there hard work and all the veterans I take care of. I just wish more people would think of them especially during the holidays. but here is a BIG for you and your dh.

Re: Awwwwwh Poor old Man!!
aw, yeah. I had something sad happen near me last weekend. My street was blocked off so that i couldn't get onto the main road for church on Sunday. Later I had found out WHY they blocked it. There's this old man who always rides his wheelchair down the road each day (not sure where he's going) and he got hit by a stupid girl who was DUI. I'm pretty sure that he had died too. That makes me sooo upset to hear!

The aging process is not very kind. I always feel so bad for the elderly especially when they have no loved ones to care for them. It was very kind of you and your DH to help him! That makes me smile

Re: Awwwwwh Poor old Man!!
I always feel so sorry when I see elderly people alone. That was so sweet and kind of you and your DH to help him. When I used to take the express bus there was an older woman who had a pretty long walk from the bus stop. I felt so bad when it was really cold with a lot of ice, so if we were on the bus together I told her I would take her home.

No, thank you because you helped me feel better about life today. It is good to know that there are still people and even children who do care about others. You made this an even nicer Christmas. I know how you feel about your grandma because I felt the same when my mom died, but just remember she is looking down on you from heaven and will be there to help whenever you need her. Merrry Christmas.

I was thinking that too about the young boys. So nice to hear these boys cared enough to be concerned and weren't out to start trouble.
