B listed invite??

So, I am getting married in Nov, a good friend from high school in Sept. I am in her bridal party and vice versa.

Question - I sent her parents a STD, and her mom is on my invite list for bridal shower.

My parents were not invited to her quite large engagement party last Summer, but after speaking to a mutual friend, I guess this is not uncommon.

My mom just got a bridal shower invite today, for my friend's end of July shower. My mom saw my shower invite on my 'fridge back in early June - and figured hers was forthcoming...but it didn't come until a friend sent one end of last week to her and told me it was an oversight on our friend's part. Is this for real? My mom (and dad) have known her since high schoool! They are not tight with her parents, but she knows them well on her own. I feel badly and have chosen not to say anything to the bride as her dad is very sick and I also feel like I don't want to put her on defensive as we are good friends.

I wouldn't say something.

Whom to invite to a bridal shower is a personal decision. Maybe they did only invite her b/c they were invited to your shower -- but that's their decision. What good would saying anything do?

ETA - If your mom is so offended, she can always RSVP no.

And, maybe it IS actually an oversight... Maybe until your friend's mom got an invite to your shower, you friend didn't realize you were planning to invite her mom. I didn't invite any of my friends moms to my shower... It's really not unheard of not to...

That is a good point. I figured we were all in each others bridal party and close that it would just seem appropriate to invite the parents.

Plus a friend's mom (friend also in our bridal parties) talked with my mom last week and said 'See you at the shower' last week...to which when my mom said that she wasn't invited the woman said 'that is crazy...' or something to this effect. It is what it is, I guess!
