BA vs Matrie'D

What do each really do? FH was arguing last night that BA deserves more than Matrie'D!!!!
What are you tipping BA? Do you think $3pp for Matrie'D is too low?

i think the maitre d deals with all the logistics of the affair, whereas the bridal attendant is basically the bride's own personal butler. she'll do anything you need; bustle, hold your flowers, bring you food from CH, etc.

thats exactly what i told FH! I guess cause BA is following us around all day he thinks she is more important! He does not get how we can give one person $600+

Re: BA vs Matrie'D

Our RH told us generally the BA is tipped about $100 and the Maitre'd $3-$5/per person. Yeah, so if you do the math, for a 200 person wedding the Maitre'd can be tipped as much as $1000!!!! Craziness.

The MD does everything while the BA just attends to you guys. The Md should get more, for us it was $3 a guest.

I agree with your FH who the hell gets that much in one day! If that's the case then everyone should put in their applications to be a Maitre D. I give what I can afford or how great I think he does of a job. No one should tell you what to tip.

Re: BA vs Matrie'D

I used to BA back right after HS and a BA is basically the brides b!tch hahaha (I mean that in a good way lol)

I did everything from lay on the floor and get stains out of the brides dress, to hold up the dress while she peepees, to make sure they ate and had drinks in their hands at all times, etc. ANYTHING that the bride, groom, bp, parents/hosts may need.

The maitre d' handles all the stuff behind the scenes. Makes sure everythingruns smoothly, all guests are happy, all needs/wants are met esp if stated in contract.

The standard tipping for BA was $100ish back 10yrs ago. I've gotten as lil as nothing (some ppl just didn't know and some just cheap) and as much as $500. Maitre ds typically get much more than the BA, even though u see the BA much more.

Well that's my 2cents. Lol HTH

I tipped my maitre D $4 per person ($550) and I tipped the BA $150.

Of course you see the BA more, she's the BRIDAL ATTENDANT, she's suppose to be with the Bride & Groom the entire time.
The MD is the one running the entire show, making sure the food is coming out ontime, talleying & submitting the dinner orders to the kitchen, fighting with the Chef because cousin Ernie has a stange dietary restriction so he cant have anything with vitamin A in it, managing all waitstaff to ensure their not in the backyard all night taking cigarette breaks, running around the place finding out where your Mother left her antique shawl, meeting with your dj, photo & video to ensure they are all on the same time line so theres no miscommunication and your party doesnt end up on YOU TUBE. Coordinating the line up for the introductions & ceremony (if on site.) - its sooo much fun trying to command the attention of close to 12 half drunk groomsman , in charge of setting up ALL those belongings you dropped off at the hall for them to set up, escpecially those wonderful homemade centerpieces that have 12 different components that require your maitre'd to come in 2 hours earlier to start setting up becuase you thought making the centerpieces yourself from scratch would be better than going to a florist, going from table to table asking each of your guests how their dinner was & if they need anything than running back & forth like a crazy person in order to get Great Aunt Marge some splenda. fighting with the chef because you want dinner served 10 minutes later than originally thought because Grandpas speech is running overtime, & finally fighting with your parents because 3 more meals were served & these need to be collected for but dear old Dad is 3 sheets to the wind & insistant that the completly accurate grid indicating how many beef, chicken fish were served is WRONG!!! & Finally after nearly 7 hours of running around like a crazy person to ensure your day was a success, they get handed an evelope with 200 dollars in it, when your party had 250 guests. Then to boot on message boards like this people post things like 'I never even saw my Maitre'd all night', well news flash: they were running around all night, & if you had seen them all night, IT MEANT THEY WERENT DOING THEIR JOB. Have a great Nigh Girls!!!
