Babies R Us

Has this place always been so-so with customer service or is it just me? I can't say from experience too much b/c I only went there yesterday for the first time and was there for 3 hours. I walked around aimlessly looking for stuff. The Infant Care section.. oh boy what can I say. I asked 3 different customers and they were dizzier than me! I couldn't find one employee anywhere. The only ones I saw were either by the registers or by the baby registry table. What killed me was that I had to wrap the gift myself!?!?!? Was this always like this or is it new?

I think that you need to do A LOT research prior to going to any of those places. The people who work there cannot always help you anyway since many of this stuff is personal preference. And the wrapping paper is free- but you have to do it yourself. Most places charge a fortune to have a gift wrapped.

I use the amazon.com ratings and babycenter.com also a lot of girls love the Baby Bargin books too- which rate stuff. Consumer Reports has a few baby things rated like car seat.

So before you register go to the sites and start to put down the top 2 or 3 rated items that you want, then you can wiz thru the store. I had my swing, bassinet, bouncey seat, car seats, stroller options ( you have to try these yourself, not just read about them), and other stuff on a list before I even walked into the store. I didn't use their list either. I made up my own.

I was only in there looking for baby shower gifts. I think I would have collapsed if I was a mommy to-be. I do agree with you Michele. I am going to research all the products and make sure they are safe for our baby once we are ready. There are sooo many things to choose from. Brands, size/dimension, weight... Sheesh its worse than doing the bridal registry! I can only imagine it is exciting to register when you are pregnant though. I was so lost in that store I didn't know where I was going. I did learn alot. And I ran out of there so fast after I wrapped the gifts. Three hours was way too much time for me.

Wanda, I TOTALLY agree....doing the baby registry was 1,000 times worse than doing the bridal registry!

I have a Love/Hate relationship with BRU. They are closer to me than BBB, and I love going in there to shop for baby stuff, but I HATE their customer service. I had several bad experiences with them, where they screwed up.
