Baby Gate advice

Baby Gate advice

As I've previously mentioned, we just closed on a house. It's a split level with a staircase up and down so I have 2 gates already for the tops of each staircase. The kitchen has 2 entrances - one from the hall and one from the dining room.

So my question is: How many more gates do I need and can anyone recommend them?

Here's the top of the stairs gate we bought

Evenflo baby gate

Do we need one for each kitchen doorway?

Also, what about the bottom of the stairs? I would think so because I put Luke on the floor and he climbed those stairs with no problem and very quickly - you'd think he'd been practicing and he's never been exposed to stairs before. (It was actually very cute, he was laughing his head off all the way up)

I would think maybe the tension gates, not the swing gates but which ones??

Thanks

Re: Baby Gate advice

Liz, I just bumped my previous thread on this. I posted a couple of months ago about the gates we purchased. And, Paul did the same exact thing that Luke did on first experience w/stairs! Very scary, these tough little guys!

I don't really know how to give advice about where to place the gates in your home, b/c I don't know where Lukie will be spending most of his time. From the way you describe, it sounds like you and Derek could probably go mad trying to figure all this out! I wish you much luck!!

Also - the gates that I recommend for stairs are based upon which ones attach easily to spindles and railing posts - I'm not sure if your staircase has these.

Re: Baby Gate advice

Thanks.

Claud!!!! I knew you'd know the deal

I think I have to partition off everything!!! I've had moving boxes in the living room of the apt and kind of moved them like a penned in area for Luke. I havent left him alone with it, just to be able to get things done around him. Well good thing because guess what? This morning I watched him climbed right over one. They're 16 inches high! I thought it was a fluke but he scaled another one shortly thereafter. Yikes!

Re: Baby Gate advice

thanks for posting info. I am guessing we will have to do this within the next month too,...
but J isnt sitting up for long periods of time yet and not scooting around. I know each child has their own timetable so I am trying not to get too anxious about it...(yeah RIGHT!)

but I dont want us to be caught unaware and then run around baby proofing either

thanks again
