Baby girl getting married in 42 hours( long)
Wow wedding prep is exhausting. In a way I think it is designed that way so you are too busy to let the emotions carry you away! It has been an interesting journey. I have learned so much. And I so hope my incredible daughter and the amazing love of her lifetime get a day that is spectacular in every way. Sometimes I think I obsessed too much, spent too much, did too much, worried too much, spent too much time here..but I wanted to give all I could. 'Our' wedding got a little out of control.for example... We planned to host a wedding brunch for the guests who stayed over at the hotel blocks..and the next thing I knew we had 140 people staying over! Eek! But what a party it is going to be. My husband, the father of the bride, has been a great sport..mostly.. as the budget went out the window. And the parents of the groom have been generous beyond my wildest dreams. But the biggest gift they have given is insisting that this special bride and groom grasp this happiness in spite of being broken hearted that a beloved family member is devastatingly ill. This has been much easier said than done, but the groom and his loving family are all very unselfish and very brave. I keep singing in my head 'smile though your heart is aching.....'
I hope memories are built that last forever. I hope I don't cry through the entire day .and I hope my daughter can take it all in and absorb the love surrounding her and hold on to it through the challenging times that life invariably presents.
I have been blessed with amazing vendors who truly cared and helped me keep what little sanity i have left.
Rob at Giorgios is a Godsend. We truly got a personalized wedding to Jack and Kelly and a one of a kind experience. We met with the chef mike to vary the menu from my sons wedding that was held there 3 years ago... and They have bent over backwards in every
way possible and worked to provide an amazing amount of gluten free menu options so the bride can enjoy her day. It has Been a joy
I cannot say enough about Carissa at hotel indigo. From managing
hotel blocks, planing brunch, organizing getting ready rooms, to transportation to afterparties and hospitality suites she has been sensational....- my go to girl. I could not have done this in such a great way without her, James Fallon has been unbelievable as well. I have loved dealing with hotel indigo and since he oversees holiday inn express east end as well... he and Carissa have helped me to have a good experience there too. Michelle is great at holiday inn express. You need to talk to the right people who can get things accomplished. I have been blessed! I have so enjoyed spending hours with Lenea of with all my heart flowers.the invitations were absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to see the flowers and linens!
Had a few glitches with a couple of vendors but believe they are worked out .so far, everyone has been great about making sure we know what we are getting and are happy..Will report back after the day .
My biggest piece of advice is don't rush into anything. Our biggest error was rushing into a dress purchase when Priscilla of Boston closed. It did work out eventually, after we doubled what we planned on spending ...but I was a wreck about it.. my daughter didn't get the joy of the dress experience that she should have had ..plus we had months of stress while wondering if the dress could even be fixed.it was not fun bringing it back and forth to Connecticut for 'restoration' I do not forget Josephine from POB who promised to fix everything but never retuned weeks of calls . Not nice! Am working on forgiveness. I am however, very grateful to alterations unlimited . They did a beautiful job .. But it ended up
needing very expensive alterations. Not their fault. I thank God for them. Well.I am off to check my lists of what to bring for the final appts. Wish us luck.. Say a prayer for grandpa. Wishing you all the best. Signing off for now xoxo
