We are flying tomorrow and I once saw a baby on a flight do nothing but cry - Is there anything I should know? Just curious about the whole ear popping thing - is there anything I can do to help her? Thanks

Re: Baby going on 1st Plane ?????
Hi, I just made sure she was really tired, I kept her up hour before the flight and I gave her a bottle while we were going up so the ****ing would help if her ears popped and she pasted out and slept down to florida. Good luck.

Make sure the baby has something to drink. That will keep the ears from getting 'clogged' and relieve the pressure.

As the Mommy, you will know what will work best for your baby. The one thing that I tried to be very concious of was keeping Paul on his schedule (or as close to it as possible). We took a six hour flight from CA to NY when Paul was 3 months old. Thank goodness he slept most of the way.
I fed him a bottle on take-off, which put him to sleep. When he woke, we changed him (which is NOT easy to do in one of those airplane lavs!) and gave him another bottle. DH and I took turns giving him some 'lap time' while the seatbelt signs were turned off, so the poor little guy could stretch his legs. Upon landing, I made sure he had a binky in his mouth.
Don't worry too much - the younger they are sometimes, the easier they are to adapt. Have a FUN trip! BTW - where are you traveling to?

If your baby is not hungry have something they can **** on (pacifier, your hand ANYTHING) Make sure you bring toys they know & love. Or their favorite blanket.
To be on the cautious side I gave my son a tiny dose of tylenol before we got on the plane. They usually sleep threw most of the flight.
My son is a jetsetter he has been to Ireland 3 times & Oregon twice (both 3,000 mile flights) It's harder when they are older.
Oh yeah just remember don't worry about the crying bothering the other passengers that just adds to stress. And when your stressed the babies know!!
You will be fine!!

A pediatrician I jused to work with would tell the parents to hold those little dixie cups over the babies ears on take-off/ landing. Worth a try, I guess.
