Some time ago (9 months +) JennRene and a few others posted their exhaustive list of researhced baby items--- I made a huge word document out of them and of course they are stuck on my old computer (long story)
Can anyone help? Basically it was the top 2 or 3 of each item and it really helped me (back then) and would love to use it as a guide to start looking at things

Re: Baby Items
I always put the Snap & Go at the top of my list. I've sung it's praises many times.
Also since you are having a colder weather baby, the Bundle Me or the Nojo infant car seat cover is a lifesaver. I had the infant car seat cover for Luke and I never used the snowsuit except for one time his whole first winter. I put him in the car seat, put a warm blankie and a hat on him and then the car seat cover, it was perfect.
Those are my top two picks besides than the usual stuff like bouncy seats, exersaucers etc.

Re: Baby Items
Laura theres a great book. I think its called SMART BABY BARGAINS? (someone help me out here ) the authors do TONS of research on baby products, rate them, and tell you whats worth it and whats not. VERY good course. they also have a GREAT website.
I promise to get you the info. I'll update the post after I search online

Re: Baby Items
The book is Baby Bargains. It is very helpful. I also used the Babies R Us and Babycenter websites where they have parent feedback about items.
About the Bundle Me - there are 2 kinds of infant carrier covers. The Bundle me kind which lays in the seat, straps come through it, then you put in baby and strap them in and zip up the cover. There are also covers with elastic all around the edge which just get stretched over the top of the carrier after baby is strapped in. I have read that this second type is safer because there is nothing in between baby and straps so baby is more safely secured. Just an FYI.
Some things that have come highly recommended to me are the Graco Snug ride infant car seat with the Snap and Go. Britax Marathon child car seat for bigger kids. Aquarium swing (I think by Fisher Price). I will keep thinking...

Re: Baby Items
the aquarium swing is great.
I havent' tried my bundle me thing yet. I have a NOJO one I think, and an Eddie Bauer. I don't even know what they do, but I know they are supposed to be great. I was also told by the hospital though not to use anything that interferes w. the straps on the carseat. So if either does that, I won't be using them. You shouldn't do anything to interfere w. the integrity of the construction of those things.
People rave about the Kick n Play Bouncer. I have it and hate it. I am returning it. It's just too much going on - too many bells and whistles. I am going to trade it in for something a little calmer!

Re: Baby Items
I have to agree with checking reviews online (BRUS/Amazon, epinions.com).. I think that 'word of mouth' and reviews right from other customers is extremely helpful and one of the first things we check when we buy almost anything.
I actually saw a clip on some show yesterday where a customer wrote a terrible review on a swing, because it would allow for the baby's head to fall forward, and the baby would run out of air as he leaned forward involuntarily. The company sees these reviews, and the item winded up being recalled (Sorry dont know which swing offhand, but its off the shelves now).
