When is the baby shower usually thrown? How close to he due date?

I would say a couple of months before the baby is born - so maybe 7-8th month of pregnacy.

my cousin had her baby in january and her shower was in november - 2 moths before she was due. i'd say anywhere from 2-3 months before the due date is the norm

I would say 2 -3 months before her due date. Some women go early, and you want to give the family enough time to set up the babys room, wash the babys clothes and buy whatever they didnt get.

Yeah, I would say that's good. My SIL was due mid-December and we had her shower October 16

I just went to one exactly a month before her due date & before that I went to one about 6 weeks before.

Go to the parenting board. I just started a thread and some good shower ideas were mentioned.

sure, I like the baby food one where you blindfold a friend or the mommy to be and they have to guess the baby food

Start a timer and when it goes off whoevers gift shes opening gets a prize

I like when they have a baby diapering race

or a bottle drinking race

or you pass out string and each person has to guess how big the mommys belly is. She then measures it and the closest is the winner.

My friend was due April 15 and we had her shower on March 15. She had the baby March 20.

I had my baby shower exactly ONE week before I had my son (He came a month early)

I didnt mind the string game. It wasnt my favorite but I was damn proud of my big belly

I subscribe to the belief that it is cruel and unusual punishment to have these games, unless alcohol will be served at the shower.
