baby shower gift...?

baby shower gift...?

last night i got an invite to FH's cousin's babyshower (his godsons mom)

in the invite was 'we are reg at...' so i checked it out and there was NOTHING on there.... well 26 items... bottles, warmers, dipers, burping pads, food processor.... then a carrage, car seat, fold up play pen.....

i dont want to buy her a car seat... its not pricey or fancy.. and she is 'family' and i have this thing that i amnot money conscious, BUT i want to 'look' good and a car seat for 30$ from me and FH i dont think 'looks good'

call me social superficial.. but i kno thats what i am....

i wanted to put together a baby basket about 50 to 75$ worth of baby acessories (wipes, dipers, bibs, onsies, powder, lotion...) you kno all the stuff i kno she will buy all the damn time...

do u think that is 'good enough' from me and FH instead of a car seat or fold up play pen?

please help....
i dont like buying infant baby outfits.... *except for the BOCA onsie we are making for him!*

I think a basket would be really nice.

Anytime I go to a shower, and see a basket that someone made, and put that much thought into, I get jealous, because I wish I was crafty. If I tried to do that, it would look like poop.

I dont think you always have to buy off the registry. I am sure when I have a baby I wont have half the stuff on there that I need. Do what you think you would feel comfortable with. Your idea sounds nice

I usually do a basket. I either get the baby tub and make it in there...with all the bath stuff..soap, washclothes, towels, a robe and then other cute things like bibs and little toys, bottles...

or I get a small laundry basket type and put lots of stuff.

People usually love it and I feel like it's special cuz I put work into it.

if u dont want 2 buy from the registry just get them a gift card from the same store for what ever amount u wanted 2 spend.

then i'd go with the gift card....for babyshowers i always purchase from the registry because thats what they are there for....i dont think she will care how much u spent as long as you actually come 2 the shower.

A basket is a great idea. Not that I have kids yet but most of my best friends have just had babies in the past couple of years and one thing I've learned is that you can NEVER have enough onesies, bibs, burping cloths, wipes, lotion, etc. My friends do like 5 loads of laundry a day just of burping cloths and bibs and onesies because they're constantly being spit-up on and she needs new ones to be washed and turned around quickly. So she'll greatly appreciate having a ton of that stuff, especially when they're newborns.

baskets are great and also you can fill up a diaper bag that she want with alot of stuff in it as well.

Actually i did this for my cousin. She registered for a babay tub and i got that and then put all the other things in there. The wipes, bath soaps, bibs, clothes, crib sheets, bottles, pacifiers. A whole bunch of stuff it was about $100 all together. I think thats a cute idea. If i can find pics i'll show you.

My sister just had a baby, but her registry was full of stuff she really wanted, even though she did not have a shower. I can tell you, the things she uses the most are:
car seat
Stroller
(the car seat is removiable, and fits into the stroller)
papisan
Onesies
stretchy pants
Pac-n-play
Papisan (bouncy)
diapers!
formula!
bibs
burping cloths
socks

The car seat really is the most important thing for a baby, so I would buy that and if you want to do a basket as well, I think that would be great.
My nephew sits in his car seat or papisan all the time.

how crafty are you? It's funny you posted this because I was watching the martha stewart show yesterday and she had a segment on her show where they made bouquets out of baby clothes, it was so cute I wanted to go to a baby shower just so I can make one. It used little things, a onesie, a hat, a bib, etc here is the link.
