i have a baby shower to go to this weekend ... i'm considering the following gifts (the mother is an old co-worker of mine who'se going to have her first child - a girl):
Sleepy-time Set (a blanket, a baby book, a crib-toy, sleepy time lotion)
or
Bathtime Set (baby shampoo and soap, a towel or robe, any other bath-stuff i could think of)
which do you think is the better gift?
Thanks

Re: baby shower gifts
Does she have a registry or a theme?
Usually I buy a cute outfit or pjs, a onesie, a hat, socks, a toy or a book, and then something useful like teething rings, pacifiers, or a bottle. And then I try to get everything to match (color or animal or whatever).
If you go to a place like Carter's, Century 21, or an outlet you can get all that stuff for super cheap. I usually spend around $30-40 on everything.

Re: baby shower gifts
Bathtime stuff will always eventually be used since shampoo and the like doesn't really go bad. Another toy and blanket could just be something she has 50 of and won't need more. Either way the thought is what counts. I usually try to give people very practical things -- either from their registry or things they've asked for.

Re: baby shower gifts
Speaking of a mother of 2. I would deff prefer if I got something that was on my registry. If she doesn't have a registry then I think the bath one is a better choice. You can always buy a baby bath and fill it with some stuff. I believe it babies r us they also have some bath gift sets. If you want some other idea they have a little noses emergency kit which has a bunch of diff things babies need for colds or fevers. I LOVED that. HTH and Have fun at the baby shower!!
