baby shower.... HELP!!!!

my friend and co-worker is having her first baby!!!!

i would love to host a shower for her!!!

aside from my baby shower 11yrs ago, i haven't been to a baby shower since i was in jr high school (my family is all over the country).... so....

i'm CLUELESS as to where to start. what's hip and trendy??? what are people doing these days for and at showers???

please, any ideas/comments/suggestions will be welcomed.

I just went to a shower where the guests were politely asked via a poem in the invitation to not wrap gifts or to wrap them in clear cellophane. This gave the guests and the mom-to-be more time to socialize. It seems that all the guests thought this was a great idea as opposed to sitting through 2 hours opening gifts. Just a thought...
