baby shower ideas

maybe all u gals can help i posted this on the parenting board and i hot nothing ....
I am participating in the planning of a baby shower for my best friend (who is also by the way my MOH)...i want to do something special for her
does anyone have any ideas ...like baby shower poems ...games...favors...
i also have to decorate the hall ...but all the supplies are so expensive ..any places where i can get them cheaper???

Everyone gueses a measurment of the mom to be's belly and closest wins.

What type of decorations are you looking for?

you could do baby shower bingo with the gifts, you have the guests fill in the bingo card with what they think is in all the presents, then the first one to get bingo wins.

Each letter of the alphabet, they have to put a word down relating to a baby, or baby things
A -aspirator
B-burp cloth etc...

You just type it up with directions, then have the guests fill it in...the person that fills it in the fastest wins a prize....

you can find candles that smell like baby powder, they come in a glass jar, and you could decorate them with a plastic pacifier or ribbon and give that as part of the gift...

i've also received a thing for children at one the showers i went to...it was a white washcloth, and they folded it around one of those plastic ice cube balls.....then tied it with a ribbonthen glued eyes and a blue nose on it...it is for kids to put on their 'ouchie'...you put them in the freezer to make them cold, then can use them to relieve pain instead of using a washcloth with freezing cold ice cubes...

you fold a strip of the washcloth up lengthways, then fold it in half around the ice cube thingy...so that if you want to, you are able to pop the ice cube thing out from being held in the washcloth...if you want to know what it looks like, let me know and i'll take a picture...just fm me to remind me

I was just at my MOH's shower yesterday, it was a blast!

Here are 3 things we did:

1) Signed a blanket with markers

2) Wrote advice for the new parents in a journal

3) Wrote silly things on newborn diapers for them to read during 3am feedings

I went to one where we had to guess the price of some baby items (bibs, baby powder, pacifers...). The girl who was running it would hold up each item and we wrote what we thought the price was on a pieces of paper they printed with all the items on it. It was pretty cute.

As for decorations, they had a few them diaper cakes in the center of the tables. I made a three tier one and it wasn't too hard. I rolled up cheap diapers, tied them with yarn to stay rolled. Then placed them standing up in a circle and tied the bunch together. then did the same, only a smaller amount of diapers, for the next two levels. My theme was bath time, so I replaced some diapers with shampoo, bath toys, baby powder... and put them around the cake. The top layer also had a bottle wrapped in the middle of all the diapers. It came out very cute

**ETA: i forgot that i wrapped it in clear cellephane and tied a bow on top with two balloons for the centerpiece

you could do baby bingo and have a prize for people who get it ( you play with a bingo board and ask the ladies to write a gift inside)

Make a diaper cake...if I get time I will find a link...that is always a great idea and they come out REALLY cute!!!

I am sure if you go to a 99 cents store or any crafts store (Michaels) you can find baby shower decorations...
