My two nephews (6 & 8) and neice (8) are the ringbearers and flower girl at my wedding. FH thought it would be a good idea to have someone they know (older-teenage relative) come to the wedding, not really as our guest, but to keep the kids occuppied during the reception (all of the parents are also in the wedding party). Has anyone ever done this/seen it done. Do you think its a good idea?

I had a sitter watching my son so that my mom and dad and family can have a good time.

Re: Babysitter
I did this in high school for a couple whose child was enrolled in the daycare I was working PT at.
I went to the hotel suite, and stayed with all of the kids. The bride and groom were married at a church, and had a 3 hour break so the flower girl and ring bearers were left with me, along with 4 other OOT guests' kids. The Bride paid me $150 for the night (5-12)

The kids are going to be at the reception. I was thinking that it would be good to have a babysitter come to the reception, to keep them occupied and so that their parents (BM, MOH, GM) don't have to worry about them. Is this what you did, or were you just at the hotel?

That's a cute idea! Having someone play games and dance with them! Love it
I was just at the hotel, so the parents ordered a video for the older kids to watch and I read stories and played with the little ones.

This is what i am doing...my son is 2 and both my nephews are 5 so my mom's best friend is going to take them back to the hotel which is a half a mile away at 9 so they can watch movies and stuff but if anything happens we are still very close

Re: Babysitter
My friend did this, she hired a babysitter for her son at her wedding. The babysitter followed him around all night, and then when he got tired she went with him to the bridal suite where he slept. I think it's a good idea, then no one really has to worry about where they are every second. He was 2 at the time...
