Babysitter at the wedding

Is anyone planning on doing this? If so, how did you find someone? What do they charge?

TIA

Do you mean to be at the wedding and watch the children there? Or a babysitter that will watch the children at another location?

My FH suggested this also. I do not agree with it. I dont think it should be our responsibility to pay and find someone to babysit so people can come to my wedding. If people want to be there they will find a way. I also feel if they need a babysitter they are not old enough to behave at a wedding.

Just my opinion. If you can afford it and dont mind then go for it.

I have no idea how to go about that....but I knwo for mine I will hire a babysitter b/c my mom's family will be from out of town ad bringing their kids (young kids) who will not be at the reception. So i want them to enjoy themselves, but over the next two years will need to find someone i would trust my own kids with so they are not uncomfortable!!!

me personally, i wouldnt do it . . . it is the parents' responsibility to watch their kids, not yours - if something goes wrong YOU as the bride would be responsible
I understand you want the adults to have a good time BUT if they cant have a good time with their kids there they have a lot of time to get a babysitter and they can leave the kids at home
Most of the weddings I have been to have invited kids and I have never noticed a problem. The kids will eat with their parents, dance a little and then probably fall asleep in the corner!
HTH!

My sister's are getting one baby sister themselves. Either they are taking the kids to one house or they are staying at the hotel. Everyone wants to have a good time and after a certain time the kids don't want to be there. def not your responsibilty though.

I have over 20 children that are going to be at the wedding and I have spoken to all the parents, one of my good friends has 5 children.. I've told them they are ALL responsible for their children and seeming I got have HUGE room for the reception, if they could bring things to keep their children entertained..
Plus I have goodie bags for them and I will have the DJ do dances, prizes and extras to give to the children as well..

Also a good idea would be for the slightly older children Im putting disposable cameras on all table with a scavenger hunt list for them to take pictures..

Having a babysitter at the wedding could cause problems with some parents not liking the person babysitting..

just my 2 cents

A long time ago i did this for a family whose children i watched often. I actually went to 2 weddings with them. The people who had the children paid me and the couple getting married had nothing to do with it. I personally wouldnt worry about it! Leave it up to them. Maybe pass the word along that you would think it is a good idea, but i dont think it is your responsibility to hire someone. Plus, they would want to know the person who is watching their kids the whole night, so they may want to use a babysitter they have used before.

I am having a babysitter at the wedding. I want my guests to have as much fun as possible - and to not have the day be stressful for them. As a parent, I know that finding a trustworthy babysitter can be really difficult!

I have 2 girls that one of my friends used for her wedding. They are high school students and come really highly recommended. They will coordinate games and activities for the little ones. I will pay them 75 each, plus they will eat.

It IS NOT my responsibility to find child care for my guests. It is also not my responsibility to provide a slipper basket or bathroom baskets for their comfort. But it is something that I think is helpful and - since I am having children at the wedding - will encourage the adults to have even more fun!

Re: Babysitter at the wedding

I'm going to be having a lot of kids at my wedding!! uggh... so I figured I would have some 'toys' (coloring books and such) to keep some of them (the younger ones) occupied for some of the time.

Someone suggested to me to hire a clown type (but not a person dressed up or anything- just someone that knows how to entertain kids) I wont do it for two reasons-- I don't want that sort of thing at my wedding and you would kind of need a separate space for that-- which I don't have.

I don't think its necessary --usually the parents contain the kids enough to keep things orderly! (I would hope anyway!!)

If you need a babysitter, I will do it! I cant commit to 2007 yet, but you can always send an FM
