So we are trying to plan an evening in the city for just dinner and drinks...nothing too wild and crazy, just a fun night out with the girls.
I am trying to make some sort of plan so we are not walking around the city aimlessly. I also would like to go out to eat somewhere nice and fun, but not cheesy, and then go to drinks somewhere relatively close by for drinks. I hate going one place and then having to take the subway or cab all the way to the other side of the city.
So does anyone know of any good restaurants for dinner in Murray Hill or any good bars/lounge (nothing hardcore) near Little Italy?
TIA

Re: Bachelorette Dilemma
In Murray Hill, you should check out Mexico Lindo (i guess it's slightly below murray hill) on 2nd ave and 26th street. It's one of my favorite restaurants, has a great vibe, not cheesy and strong margaritas!

Re: Bachelorette Dilemma
have you tried looking in a Zagats books or ny.citysearch.com?
also, you may want to consider a family-style restaurant (where you order just a couple of huge dishes that everyone shares)...i think it's a bit more cozy than a 'Regular' restaurant. just a suggestion, of course.

Re: Bachelorette Dilemma
I have searched Zagats but it is a bit overwhelming. I would like to see if people have any first hand recommendations.
Family style is definitely a way to go, but the only one I have ever been to is Carmine's.

I'll second the cottage, though, maybe not for bachelorette party (kind of a quiet atmosphere, no?).
I used to live on the UWS and loved that place!

Re: Bachelorette Dilemma
lol, its gotten pretty wild there lately. The waitresses call my FH 'hero' in chinese because some1 tried stealing the wine (that they give for free).. they ran out the door and my bf chased them and started yelling 'POLICE! drop the WINE!' flashing his driver's license.
The guy soiled his knickers dropped the wine and rannnn. Now they seat us by the door incase some1 else tries stealing. I suggested they keep the wine someplace else, other than the front door. DUH lol
Im in the mood for the cottage tonight.. grrr there goes my diet!

Re: Bachelorette Dilemma
My friends mentions a place called Johnny Utah's which has a mechanical bull and another place called I think Magia e beppi or something (you can search it on here too) and they say that caters to bachelorette parties...I don't know if they are in teh cheesy catagory but i hear they are fun...

Re: Bachelorette Dilemma
is it set that you will be in murray hill? or just a suggestion you guys have at the moment.
bc i suggest going around the meat packing district. My first suggestion for a restaurant is buddakan-AMAZING!!!!!!!! theres also son cubano, buddha bar but although buddha bar is real nice inside and great atmosphere the portions were tiny and the food at buddakan blows it away
but the good thing is that there are lots of places within walking distance all around there. You can go to Gansevoort, tenjune, One and tons of others
plus its not far from little italy

You really should consider the Meat Packing district.. That is the most happening place to be in the city... Son Cubano STK Spice Market Buddha Bar Buddha Khan and many more. ---------------------------------------------- Ok, so i'm reading above and someone else also posted about meat packing district. Its really good. buddha khan's portions are very small.
I also recommend... Asia De Cuba.. on madison in the 30's which is family style. and also Dos Caminos mexican on park in the 20's... also one in soho.
