I know that all of our parties are probably pretty far away but what do you think you will do? I was just at one over the weekend and we went out to dinner and to a club, but other people go away for theirs. (FH might be going to Brazil for one of his friends ) I think i would like a long weekend someplace away from here where you can go to a spa and relax but go out and have fun at night. Maybe Atlantic City So far away but fun to think about

Re: Bachelorette Parties
I actually saw something in one of my Bridal mags...the girls did a spa day. I think that sounds so awesome..go to a fancy spa where they serve wine and stuff and everyone can get pampered. I think that is what I want to do. I guess it is really up to the bride, whatever we want!!!

Re: Bachelorette Parties
ooh i already know what i want to do!!!!!!!!!!!
my FMIL goes to this really nice spa - and if you have enough people they let you use this little lounge area while you are waiting for treatments. . .it is on Northern Blvd but I can't think of the name! Anyway so you can bring a cooler and champagne and little snacks and stuff - so i want to do that. . . .and then go home change and go out to dinner. . . maybe a bar and a club and then a sleepover!
i am not that exciting LOL but it will be fun if my friends are there
damn - now i want to go to the spa :(

Re: Bachelorette Parties
A spa is what i want to do.. I'm not into clubs or bars, i like the quiet atmospheres. My cousins want to get a stripper and i warned them that i will walk out if i see a male stripper.. I'd rather be pampered all day with my girls, then maybe go out for dinner and maybe a lounge... I dont need to party hard to have a good time.

Re: Bachelorette Parties
That's what I'm talking about girls! I am so glad I am not the only one who isn't into the party scene. I feel like I did all that in college and I would much rather be somewhere that you can actually have a conversation! Whoo hoo...hmmm..I think I will go for a pedi / mani tomorrow and have a mini spa day!

Re: Bachelorette Parties
its so wierd bc i am not into the whole club thing - plus i am really kind of prude in front of certain people - i am soooo worried about my shower and bach. party!
i know that it is 'what you are supposed to do' - embarrass the bride. . . but it gets me so upset!
i mean i can get raunchy with my friends and have a good time - but if my mom ( who is almost 60 and straight off the boat from italy) and my future in laws are there - i am going to get sooo upset. . . and everyone thinks that i am just kidding - and that i will get over it. . . but i really hate it and i am kind of dreading that whole side of getting close to the wedding. . .
i dont get it though - if it is supposed to be about the bride. . . and the bride really doesnt want that side to it. . . then why does everyone just brush me off and say that i am just over reacting and it will be funny. . !!!!!!! lol sorry i turned this post into a mini -vent eek

Re: Bachelorette Parties
Thats okay.. I completely understand. One of my cousins and 2 of my bridesmaids have sick/perverted minds, so they are the ones i had to convince NOT to have a stripper.. i got them to semi-agree on that for now.. but i told them i'm serious about it.. On the same note, i know that they'll be the ones to get me skimpy lingerie and sex stuff at the bridal shower.. how embaressing that would be to open in front of my mother and FMIL!!!!

Re: Bachelorette Parties
I have a few ideas for this. For all the ones I've gone to, it's really been a lil pregaming (maybe with a stripper) and then out to a club. One of them we went to dave and buster's...it was what she wanted.
I'm thinking I want to go back up to our college town (new Paltz). During the day do the hiking/shopping...go down by the river to a lot of the old spots we used to hang out...go out to eat at all of our favorite places...then at night do the little bars, and spend a weekend there.
My Mom wants to do a wine tasting trip. She did it a few years ago and LOVED it.
I'd consider a weekend in atlantic city or something local but not too far.
Since 3 and by the time I'm married, 4 of my friends and 2 of my cousins will have already been married, I definitely want something different from what has been done...thats all I know.

Re: Bachelorette Parties
Oh i forgot a couple things....as far as embarrassing the bride....I have been on the planning for the bride part, and I will try to remember that every friend and sister and mother has dreams of planning someons bachelorette party....I have laid down the law that I DO NOT WANT A STRIPPER....as long as my absolutely will ruin my night cannot do's are honored, then I can't get mad at a lil lets have some fun and make sure everyone know's you're getting married type of stuff. So i try to look at it both ways. IF you grant my requests, I will try to put up with yours. :)
And the lingerie, it's one of those I have to tell my Mom I got my period sort of deals. Eventually it's just normal, but awkward the first couple times!!! And everyone knows you'll have sex the wedding night and honeymoon, so why not have something pretty to wear!!! Although after getting outta the dress I doubt I will want to put anything else back on, but hey it'll be nice to have.

Re: Bachelorette Parties
You're right in the fact that everyone knows your going to have sex.. its just really akward to open that stuff up in front of them... Give me a VS gift card so i can buy my own..
although i agree with you... after the long long day for us brides.. do i really want to be bothered putting it on after i take off the dress... is there pretty lingerie to wear underneath, that way there is no extra changing?

Re: Bachelorette Parties
so lately in my family the moms have been buying one piece of lingerie for every night of the honeymoon so that is going to be embarrassing - but i can deal with that - and it goes from pretty to 'racy'
im talking more about my friends bringing 'toys' and such - i would DIE
they did that to my cousin at her BP - we went out to dinner with the mom's first and my mom was trying to fit in so she was like oooh let me see that - it was this HUGE purple 'thing' - and my cousin laughed it off but i was mortified - i dont know why i am like that since my family is kind of open and jokes around . . . but i am actually cringing as i sit here remembering it all - i think i am traumatized!!!!! LOL
you guys are right though my special wedding night lingerie will probably have to become my special afternoon after the wedding lingerie!

Re: Bachelorette Parties
lingerie is one thing to open in front of people...but I couldn't imagine opening any toys...some things are not meant to be opened in front of grandma!!!!
for my best friends shower I actually want to get her the bra and underwear that are made out of those little candy necklaces KWIM??
and wearing some sort of something cute under the dress is a great idea....although I'm thinking i want a cute pair of blue boy shorts with some sort of mrs. reilly or just married or something of that sort on the tushy

Re: Bachelorette Parties
OMG, i was once at a bachelorette party where we hung our at the girls house with her family (mom, great aunts, grandmas) before we went out to dinner. the girl who planned the party gave out drinks with penis straws and the grandma was drinking from it and didn't even know. It was so funny, but absolutly disgusting!!!

Re: Bachelorette Parties
That is really funny...! My FH's mom is from Japan and I would totally freak if she had to drink from a penis straw!!

Re: Bachelorette Parties
My MOH always told me what she had in mind for me even before I got engaged. She wants to have someone come and teach us (the whole BP) how to strip. This may come out wrong, but I have an inner stripper in me... not that I'm taking my clothes off everywhere I go, but get a few drinks in me and the stripper moves come out! I'm so excited and hope that she follows thru on this. We just had my cousins Bachelorette Party this past weekend... we went to dinner, took her to her fave type of food, then went to Escapes (the nortorious male stirp club) where we had such a blast and then we went to a bar/club... we had such a great time and we had penis straws too!!!

Re: Bachelorette Parties
I think going for strip classes would be fun. Not that one would become a professional stripper, but its something fun to know how to do... plus it is great exercise.

Re: Bachelorette Parties
It would be fun...I would have to do it with a bunch of friends so I laugh...I think I would feel really silly if I went by myself.

If you're going to go, make reservations! It's $25/pp. You MUST enter her in the chocolate penis eating contest... it's hysterical. Are the guys good looking?.... hmmm... A little greasy looking, but we had such a good time because it was just so funny! It's very interactive, so be prepared to get humped! It usually turns into a club after the show (the show is from 8:30-11, the doors open at 7) but if it doesn't (and it didn't when we went there), they'll tell you where to go to get in free to party some more after the show. It's really a great idea and a good time for everyone... BRING YOUR CAMERA!!!
