For those of you that are already married, where did you go? if you are getting married, where are you going? I wanted to go to Culture Club in NYC (yes, my name is Jessica and I am an 80's geek!) I've never been there but it sounds like fun. My friend who has been there was like 'oh, it's really cheesy, it's so crowded, blah, blah...). I'm thinking well too bad for her we're going, but I wanted to get other opinions/suggestions. Thanks!

you can do birdys bachelortte party and then there is a free pass to culture club as well. i personally had a really fun time when i went there. all the drinks are named after things from the eighties. it was cute, and hey, what were the eighties if not cheesy. bring on the cheese

Jess- I went there for my bach party and while yes, its a bit cheesy, its so much fun and I love 80's music too. Everyonle is there for a bach party so you don't look stupid runnig around with a veil or t-shirt! I say go and have a great time!

That's exactly want I want to do! I saw this black t-shirt that says 'bride' on it on the Knot website, and I'd like to be able to wear it & go out to dinner & then maybe to Culture Club afterwards.

Jess- I want to come - I had so much fun! I wore one of those t-shirts and a veil and it was hysterical., And you don't feel stupid because all of the other people there are either brides or guys who feed off that stuff! Have so much fun! And tell me your other plans- we had dinner at a pretty good place and stayed over in the city! -- Mer

Re: Bachelorette party?
You should come! Right now my BF (and MOH) I think is going to be researching some limo companies so I think we may just get a limo rather than staying overnight in the city. Plus I have some friends who live in NYC so they'll probably just meet us at the restaurant. Where did you guys go to dinner? I was thinking about this place I went to a long time ago for my birthday on the Upper West side that was Italian family-style. It is like Carmine's but without the 3 1/2 hour wait!!

We went to Mangia E Bevi and it was good and not expensive but you do wind up waiting for a while. We used Serenity Limos to take us around in the city but we really didnt even need dow them- we could have taken cabs but if you are going back to NJ I would get limo. After Culture Club we went to some bars in the Village but they shutting down by the time we got there. Theres a place I think in the Village I Think or Little Italy called Puglia's that is popular too.

Re: Bachelorette party?
Culture Club is a lot of fun, but cheesy.
If you want to dance to 80's music without so much cheese, go to the Alphabet Lounge (but only on a Sat. night) on 7th Street & Avenue C. It's so much fun, but a lot smaller than the Culture club

Re: Bachelorette party?
My friends and I went to Culture club for a friends 30th birthday. her husband rented us a limo and we went. The music was great(brought back a lot of memories). The place has all kinds of cool 80's theme decorations. The drinks were pricey enough, but to be honest with you we couldn't stay there all night because it was super-crowded and hot as hell!!! After a good while, we had to get off the dance floor because it was too hot and too many people all dancing around you and into you. I would have loved that music in place that wasn't so crowded. Plus i think we paid $25 to get in. So, a night there will definitely cost you.
