So we were supposed to go to this Mexican Restaurant Alma's in Brooklyn, but MOH waited to make a reservation and now they're booked for Saturday night...
I am looking to do something low key in Brooklyn or the city. Preferably Mexican food, but not a chain or bachelorette spot and then drinks afterwards.
Any ideas??
TIA.

You're not thinking Tortilla Flats, right? that's the only one I can think of but that's a total bachelorette hang out....

I really don't think so....it doesnt sound familiar, and especially if its a bacheloretty hangout- I remember it wasn't very big and it was on the corner of whatever block it was on. I'm still trying to find out the name, I left my friend a VM.

Gonzalez & Gonzalez is a great place. You can try Rosa Mexicana located near Lincoln Center but it can be a bit pricy.

Re: Bachelorette Party Blues...
or Senor Swanky's is on a corner too ? I've been there and the food is not so great....mexican out of a can I thought.
El Rio Grande is on 40th & 3rd ave...they have the outside deck open when it's nice out so everyone hangs-out drinking.

Re: Bachelorette Party Blues...
Oh yeah, Gonzalez & Gonzalez!!! I used to go there all the time in college! It was a lot of fun. In the evenings/late night on the weekends it becomes a bit like a club. It's NOT a huge place by any means, but it was fun! I haven't been there in a while so I'm not sure what it's like now, but if it's how it used to be, it would be a perfect spot!

Love this place too! Rosa Mexicano (any of the locations are great) and Mexican Radio (I think that one is on SoHo) is quite good as well

Wow, I forgot about G&G, we use to go there years ago. I didn't even know that was still open. They're 2 mexican stops in Forest Hills that are pretty good, both on Austin street. Sgt.Garcia's and 5 Burros. 5 burros is very small though. Sgt.Garcia's for Margaritas That's where FH and I went on our 1st date, well sorta my BFF was with us, lol.

Re: Bachelorette Party Blues...
Have you thought of Canteena or Casa Peppe's (spelling might be off on the second one).
I like: El Rio Grande at 160 East 38th Street - just be careful how many margaritas you have. They make them exceptionally strong there.
Southwest NY , but it's downtown in the World Financial Center - that may not be too great on a weekend.
La Palapa - we went to the East Village one for another bachelorette party and it was great.
HTH! Good luck!

Re: Bachelorette Party Blues...
Agave in the village is good, much more relaxed atmosphere, but by tons of bars if you want to go out afterwards. Rio Grande has great food, and an outdoor bar, but it gets super crowded when the weahter is nice.
