Bachelorette Party Drama (a little long)

Bachelorette Party Drama (a little long)

My sister (MOH) planned a weekend getaway to Fire Island this weekend; shes knows I would rather relax and have a quiet weekend, then go all crazy, just my personality. She planned it over 6 months ago, and the whole bridal party and some friends made deposits and everything. We plan on taking an 11 am ferry on Friday to get a nice day in at the beach. My sister gets an email from one of my BM two weeks again saying she has to work until 12:30, and then has to drive from Jersey, so she wouldnt be able to take a ferry until 4 or 5. She asked that we all wait for her or if we can't give her very explicit driving directions. My sister told her that we wanted to leave early to get some time in at the beach, so she sent her driving directions. Anyway, today my sister got an email from my BM this morning saying she isn't coming at all now because she is afraid to drive to Long Island (from New Jersey) and that she doesn't feel comfortable taking a ferry alone.

I am pretty upset that she did this 3 days before our weekend, and that she didnt even have the decency to talk to me about it. I have had ome issues with her in the past, and was regretting asking her to be in the wedding party. This just adds fuel to the fire. I mean we are all adults, and with good directions its not too hard to drive to Long Island. And there will be tons of people on the ferry to Fire Island, nothing to be uncomfortable about. I guess she forgets all the planning and stuff I did for her wedding, being the BM that did all the MOH stuff.

That's crazy! No one is asking her to drive to Canada, NJ to Long Island is not a difficult drive. Is there anyone who wouldn't mind hanging back to drive with her?

Sorry. Don't sweat it. You will have a great time without her.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

That is not a tough drive and she is an adult and there will be plenty of people on the ferry.

It sounds like she is being totally selfish and only concerned about herself. Somehow she is making your weekend all about her. It is not a difficult drive and she is being difficult. Try not to think about it and have a great time without her

I am sorry sweetie ~ I am feeling similar to you ~ one of my BM can't make my bachelorette party either ~ she gave my MOH only one available weekend she was available for the month of August ~ knowing that my MOH was planning my bachelorette party in August ~ (this BM is going to her friends sister's bachelorette party instead of mine ~ very upsetting but it happens) Try NOT to think about it sweetie ~ if you keep thinking about it ~ it makes it worse!

Exactly....if she really wanted to be there she'd go no matter where it was. Just go and have a great time....she's the one missing out !!!!!!!!!

I just don't know why she just couldn't just take the day off. Plus heading to Fire Island is not scary at all. I mean she knew this day was coming up for you she could have made the accommodation's for it.

I am sorry you have to deal with this.

Is she retarded? Why can't she drive from New Jersey? She's AFRAID to take a ferry? Does she know its not a dinghy? And that Jaws was just a movie?

The thing that comes to mind is - is she broke? Maybe she doesn't have the money & she's coming up with excuses not to go?

I would call her up, personally. I would say 'I feel like you are trying to get out of going this weekend. Please tell me why.' If she starts stuttering & blubbering, you've got your answer. If she doesn't come, she doesn't come. It won't ruin your weekend. It may be disappointing, but you'll still have an awesome time, with or without her

ditto. we always do this , don't we? we focus on the ONE person that is being silly and won't come (for stupid reasons) and get down about that, rather than be excited for the ones that will show up!

don't stress over her, and just try and enjoy your wknd!
