Bachelorette Party Help!! Need ideas in NYC

OK so I was asked to be in my friends wedding this coming Nov. and the bridal party and I are trying to plan a bach party in NYC.

We were thinking a place where we can start out like a place where we can get appetizers and drinks and kinda start the night, and then go bar hopping from there. We are looking for a place with good mixed drinks, not a big beer drinking crew. Any suggestions??

I have been to a few bachelorette parties that started out at restaurant in the city- its called Mangia e Bevi- it is SO MUCH FUN! It is totally geared towards bach. parties- you can dance on the chairs/bars and they play good music! Its really so fun!!! Its on 9th Ave on the corner of 53rd! I highly recommend it!

You can try Hunkomania.com, i just been there last weekend. Its a strip show really really nice.. .

We went to a restaurant called Cabana on third ave and E 61st street, then we went to hunkomania which was held at club duvet. Bride gets in free! we had fun, did you think about renting a party bus that can take you guys to the restaurant then maybe strip club then around the city. comes with booze strip pole on the bus really fun.

Unfortunately she does not want strippers or a full dinner. She is thinking more along the lines of drinks and appetizers and then heading out to a bar or club. Any suggestions for a place near Penn where you can get appetizers and good drinks?

here are some fun places:
(I tried to keep everything near Penn, but that area is kind of a no man's land/super touristy so you might have to wander a bit)

Red Sky - a bar / lounge with 3 fun levels on 29th between Park and Madison
http://www.redskynyc.com/

Stout
http://www.stoutnyc.com/
huge bar between 6th and 7th on 33rd

Kanvas
a bit more upscale/fun bar on 9th between 23rd and 24th
http://www.kanvasnyc.com/

let me know if you want any more suggestions. I am a totally NYC girl (living in Hell's Kitchen) and I have been to a ton of bachelorette parties throughout the city.

I've done Mangia e bevi and Hunkamania, both are tons of fun, you could even do both in the same night.

how about going to a tapas restaurant. You might also want to check out stanton social.

Then after you can go to clubs or bars around the meat packing district, thats if you go to stanton social since its close by. Theres also a bunch of clubs between 10th and 11th ave and streets in the 20's. Marquee is good, but not sure if youre looking for a big club type atmosphere

theres also 230 5th, gansevoort, pink elephant, home

or you can go to 2nd ave in the 50's theres one bar after another if you prefer doing just bars. Theres also a bunch of bars in the 40's on 2nd ave

Thanks for the great list! I am going to give these ideas to my fellow bridesmaids.

Since you said you aren't big beer drinkers, I'd say avoid Greenwich Village. I used to live down there when I went to NYU, and every bar around there is packed with college kids guzzling down beer - definitely not the scene for a bachelorette party!

theres so many bars and clubs i could name, what neighborhood are you looking to go to? the meatpacking district has some nice places to go to, some hotel bars are also nice in the city

We are not too picky with the location since we have people coming from different areas of LI and the city and we may be getting a limo. One of the girls suggested a cabaret show.

i agree with avoid alot of bars in that area, st marks and all that...theres TONS of bars but theres usually not alot of dancing at many of them or not a great dancing place.

If you want more of a bar atmosphere but still some dancing then maybe places like sutton place, metro 53 and all the bars in that area will be good, although i always think with sutton place its hit or miss with the dancing. Not sure if you heard of joshua tree, but alot of ppl like that place, its in the 40's on 3rd avenue, and theres a bunch of other places nearby.

What type of music are you looking for? and what type of crowd? that will help with suggestions.

I also went to this club on 16th street between 9th and 10th avenue 2 weeks ago for a bachelorette party and we had a great time, the music was real good. its called highlander

Hawaiian tropic zone has a club now on the weekends and they have good people promoting it, people who did other big clubs in the city and it gets packed.

with the restaurant it sounds like a tapas place would be best, theres alot of tapas restaurants in the city, i think bobby flay has one too. Like i mentioned before stanton social you can get appetizers and you would probably have fun there, here is the site:

if you say what type of place you are looking for maybe i can suggest other places not mentioned here or what to avoid

The Stanton Social place looks pretty cool! We have such an odd mix of girls its crazy! We have straight, gay, bi, girls who dont ever go out, girls who go out all the time (you get the idea) its so hard to find a place that everyone will feel comfortable. Im thinking in terms of what the bride wants, and she is more like a bar girl who likes to do a little bit of dancing. I could picture her at Metro 53 but since its her bach party, im thinking something a little bit more exciting.

I think Joshua Tree and Mercury Bar are a little bit too tame.

i agree, i could do metro 53 but for a bachelorette i would want more, i always see bp there but i completely know what you are saying and feel the same way.

With a bar then it might be a bit hard, only bc many bars will stick to one type of style and you usually see just a certain crowd at certain bars.

I would go for a club. maybe not a huge club like pacha but a more mixed place, lots of different music and somewhere you girls can let loose more. Do you think she would like a place like Duvet? although thats considered a big club too hahaha

just remember wherever you go you dont have to stay and could go somewhere else, but i'd stick to places that have other places nearby

here are a few other names:

cielo
i loved providence but the promoter recently told me it wasnt great anymore, not sure if for that night but sounds like he meant from now on
marquee is really good

im trying to think of theres a club where its mixed with straight and bi/lesbian since you have a diverse group i need to think about this hahaha

HA HA I definitely threw you a curve ball huh?? I mean our crowd will most likely just suck it up and do whatever she wants to do anyway. Duvet i really wanted to do for mine LOL. Im sure we will probably start out somewhere and just end up bouncing around. Thanks for all your suggestions!!
