Ok so my sister (MOH) is planning my bachelorette party. At first, I was against going into the city because ALL of my friend have had their bachelorette parties in the city. So I feel like everyone has done it over and over again and I wanted something different. So...I thought the Hamptons! I figured we could do a wine tour in a limo and then go stay out in like Southampton and go to a bar or two. However, my sister said the hotels out there are VERY expensive and the nice bars we would want to go to are extremely expensive because you have to buy bottles and sit at tables. I don't really want my BMs to have to fork out a lot of money! So she came up with 4 alternatives:
Wine Tour and Party at a BMs house - one of my BMs lives in Rocky Point and offered her house. So we could wine tour, then hang out at her house and drink and do whatever. (a little low key)
Long Beach - since the hotel in long beach requires you to stay 2 nights and charges $180 per person, per night...that makes staying in a hotel impossible. So my mom's friend lives in Long Beach and offered her house. We can start there, take a limo around from bar to bar (lots of bars in Long Beach), and then go back to her house at the end of the night, hang out and sleep.
City - My sister lives there now so she knows all the good places to eat and drink so she guarantees it will be much better than everyone else's and she will make sure we go to different places. We can also stay in a hotel in the city.
Fire Island - I like the fire island plan...except for two things. One, we would not be staying in a hotel...1. it would be over at the end of the night and everyone will go home, 2. the last ferry leaves at 1:30am! Which means party over around 1.
What do you girls think? Which would you choose and why? Any other ideas?

Re: Bachelorette Party Question
I think a wine tour might be fun but that might just be me I know you are suppose to live it up and you can always do that after but a wine tour during the day seems like a nice break from all the wedding craziness then maybe a bar/ club at night

i personally wouldn't go to long beach. it's fun for a random night out, but the bars get insanely crowded to the point where it's not even enjoyable.

Re: Bachelorette Party Question
I did a wine tour in LI for my last birthday and my girls and I had a the best time. We went to like 3 vineyards and the vodka distillery...too much fun and had a great lunch!
However, I did vote for the city, I think either of these two ideas would be fun!!

Re: Bachelorette Party Question
if you really like the fire island idea, why won't you guys camp there? just an option. I went there one summer and camped out and went to the bars at night. I don't know if that's your idea of a bach party but it's something different.
if not, i like the wine option

Re: Bachelorette Party Question
I have done all that you mentioned. Fire Island is a lot of fun, but it is a hassle to get to. The bars don't get crowded until after 10 and then you have to take the ferry home at 1:30. You can still party after you get back to shore though.
I live in Long Beach and you do not need to rent a limo to go to the bars in Long Beach they are all in very close proximity to one another. I might be biased because I live here, but I wouldn't want to do a bachelorette party here if I had othe choices. If you don't hang out here often, then it is a great place to go...a lot of bas to choose from but dead in the winter months. ALso, the Allegria, which is the hotel in Long Beach doesn't have a 2 night minimum. It is really swanky and super nice.
If you are into something more mellow and sudued then trh win tour is the way to go.
