The last b'rette party I went to was a girl who only had her two sisters in the bridal party - so yes she invited others! There were two of her cousins, her three future sisters in law, and then maybe 4 friends. Because the MOH was only 18, she didnt want to do the bar scene, so we had a big PJ party at her house...since it was in her home, she could invite as many people as she wanted.
But its your party! Invite whoever you want!

I invited my bridal party and close friends - limited it to about 10 girls. I didn't want a huge group.

Mine's going to be about 8-10 people, and 4 of them are friends of mine who can't make the wedding.

mine was some of my bridesmaids and a couple of friends..not all of my bridal party could be there but i understood...I wanted friends there also! we had a great time!
