So FH and I were supposed to spend 5 days in Shelter Island. We booked a room at the Pridwin hotel at 227 a night. When we walked into our room, two steps from the door was the bed. The 'oceanview' was blocked by a roof. And the bathroom was the size of a broom closet. I booked the rooms almost 2 months ago and they gave us this. It was horrible. We just got home and were going to drive out to Virginia Beach tomorrow and stay at a beachfront hotel. Has anyone ever been to Virginia Beach?? Ive never been..I just want to get away. What a stressful, horrible day...

Aww! How awful! I am sorry that you had such a bad experience! they couldnt give you another room!?! Did they give you a refund?

omg...I am sooo sorry that you had to deal w/ this. FH and I lived in VA not far from VA Beach for approx 8 years. When we stayed on the strip we would book a room at the Holiday Inn right off of the main road leading to the Oceanfront. I don't remember the street right now (i' m always a passenger ) But I do recall as soon as you get off the highway you can only go straight and go until you hit Atlantic? then you make a right and it's on your left. The views from the upper floors of hotel are AWESOME. I couldn't get FH in off the balcony b/c it felt like we were on a cruise ship since you couldn't see the ground only water.

They said they were all booked up. And we tried so hard to let it slide but 227 a night??!!! For a shoebox?? If were gonna splurge it has to be worth it. Theyre crediting our account but they said we have to forfeit the 227 deposit we paid over a month ago. We contested it with the CC company and were getting is ALL back. We drove a total of 6 hours today. I didnt expect this at all. I have pics of how room the small is. Anyone who wants to see them just let me know and Ill post it...

ive never been to virginia beach so don't know...What about ocean city maryland, the poconos, niagara falls, fire island?

Sand in the bed, the fire alarm went off int he middle of the night and there was no one directing people and all that. But we could see dolphins playing in the morning from our room!

don't get it twisted, there are plenty of scandalous hotels in VA Beach. Keep to the big names and you should be ok.
