Back in the day..

I would like to know how people planned weddings back in the day with no INTERNET (shudder) and no smart phones.

I would be lost..I think I forgot how to use the yellow /white pages..do they even print those anymore??

YES< they do because I'm constantly having to pick up rain and snow soaked yellow pages off my front lawn and thrown them out

I think they options weren't as vast and things were much simpler. You booked a venue, a photog, a band and called it a day. You went to one or two bridal stores, chose from what they had, or had your dress made if you wanted something more specific and that was that.

We should go back to that.

Re: Back in the day..

back then they only cared about having friends and family around, a pretty dress , not necessarily
'THE ONE' and some good food

*I think that we loose a lot of meaning of what it is to get married. I admit myself that I have stressed over invites, and money, and the fact that my invites are going to get sent through the sorter and have dirty marks all over an envelope that is going to get thrown away.

A marriage is about two people that love each other and being surrounded by God ( or whoemever you are pledging your love in front of) your family and your BEST friends. you are starting a life with someone you have decided is worthy enough to be in your life forever, in the end, ten years from your wedding no one will remeber if you had 2 candles or 10 on your tables, if you roses were red instead of pink, or if the band played the wrong song for your cake cutting. All anyone should ever care about is the fact that you found a man who is going to be with you for the rest of your life.

I know I deviated from the original thread but its truely something that i believe and wish that everyone would remember when we get all pisssy with family and friends, and think that the world has to revolve around our weddings.

I agree..and in this age of technology we can do so much more and are expected to so much more. I have to put everything, and I mean EVETYTHING in my BB calendar or I will be lost.

I guess back then too u booked with vendors that u were referred too. I always say there is wayyyy to many 'bridal' things to choose from, if u ask me to choose 1 item out of 3, I'm golden. 1 item out gazillions..now I'm lost.

U are soo right fdny, I agree. I was getting so uptight, but now I have just put myself in a place to let things fall where they may. I am looking forward to being with my friends and family the days leading up to the wedding. And when I think about what we are doing, the vows we will be making I smile deep in my heart. I am not thinking OMG I couldn't afford personalized menus, and escorts cards,a channa plaque.

I have resloved to be patient and good to my Fiance the days leading up to the wedding and beyond.
