Backup Photo Plans in Case it Rains?? Any suggestions
Hey Everyone,
I'm planning to do all my outdoor photos at my reception hall, but in case it rains what would be a good 'back-up' plan?
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Depending upon where you church is and how much time you have, there's the Vanderbuilt Mansion, Old Westbury Gardens, the Ecology Center in Holstville, the EAB building Atrium and several hotels have very nice areas you can take pictures like the Atrium at the Huntington Hilton, Garden City hotel or the Hilton Garden Inn by MacArthur.

We got our permit from the planting fields not too long ago and ever since I have been wondering the same thing. If it rains I guess we'll take indoor pics at the church and then inside the hall. FH is all up for going to the planting fields with large umbrellas but I'm not so sure.

EAB Plaza is incredible! My friends took their pictures there for the wedding and they came out magnificent! All you need to do is have your photographer call and register as he/she needs a permit to shoot there.
Also, Old Westbury Gardens lets you shoot inside the mansions which are gorgeous.
If you are interested in EAB let me know as i work in the building and can forward you the number.

I believe there is a fee to use EAB plaza and sometimes they can have several brides there at the same time trying to get one spot (a couple photographers said this to us and that they hate to work there). The hotels are a nice option and usually don't charge you, depending on whether they have another wedding or not. The ecology center is free. If you are an alumni, Dowling College Mansion is nice but requires a donation.

We used EAB but thought it was a little jungley for our taste. I'll post some pictures so you can see what I mean. But the other shots (closer up) were nice.

That is a GREAT idea! If it rains on my day, the hotel where we have a block has a VERY nice lobby with a waterfall and lots of indoor trees, etc.

Just make sure you check with them that they allow that. The hotel where we blocked rooms also has weddings and did not allow us to take pictures there out of respect for the bride getting married there. Just something to keep in mind.
