Bad Experience at LI Store
If you are looking at judaica stores, FM me and I will tell you the name.
We went looking for Ketubahs, tallis, etc. for our wedding and we found one ketubah we liked (we already saw it online and the price was only a few $$ more expensive). Then FH tried on a tallis and he really loved it. There was a price tag attached to it saying very clearly the price. We decided to buy it. When the saleslady rang me up, the price was twice what the price tag said! I of course told her that this was definitely not the price, and she grabs a tag that was just lying on the counter showing me the price of almost $500, claiming it was on the whole time (I never saw it on the piece myself, and it wasn't on when she showed it to me). We then SHOWED her the very clear tag on the tallis itself, and she claimed that wasn't a price but was rather 'identification numbers' (uhhh, we are not stupid, you know). She then took the tallis behind the counter to fold it while I was whispering to FH that we should just leave. After she was done folding the tallis, she put it back in the counter and asked to see the tag again -- which was now mysteriously MISSING! She so obviously removed the tag with the lower price on it while she was 'folding' it. The tag was very securely fastened on and wasn't coming off without the aid of someone yanking it off.
We just walked out in disgust. I cannot believe the depths some people wil go to to make a sale to a couple looking for religious wedding items.
